Sure, Donnor. I will sleep about right.
I got back to my bed, closing my eyes. I straightened my arms and shoulders, stretching my legs.
But something didn't feel right.
The center of my chest. It heaved up and down super fast. My heart. It was still racing from what had happened.
I couldn't help but wonder what he meant. Did something weird happen in the closet? All I remembered was having a question-answer round with him..him asking about my ring...after that...I am pretty sure we talked..I don't know..
Did someone invade the closet? Am I missing out on something important?
But why bring up that question when we were...
I snapped my eyes open, slapping my forehead.
I was overthinking.
"Callie!"
Right one cue, I heard Watt's typical boss-is-calling tone.
I steadied my breath, slapping my face before opening the door.
"Yes, Watt?"
I tried acting clueless anyway.
He exclaimed, gesturing outside,
"Boss is holding a meeting. You have to be there."
"Right..."
I muttered under my breath, giving him a nod.
Watt signalled downstairs, leaving,
"Come fast. He is waiting downstairs."
"Okay...okay.."
I picked up my phone from the bed, following Watt's lead. Soon we reached downstairs.
Donnor stood behind the counter, chatting with Urun and two other guards. Watt greeted him with a long bow.
"Sir, we are ready."
Donnor's eyes went on Watt in a cutting nod, then back to Urun. Donnor led the way with quick steps. We followed him.
He opened a door to the left labelled storage.
We soon went inside. A smoke of dust hit my nose, making me cough as I scanned the place with my pinched eyes.
Open, long shelves stacked with boxes and spider webs rested in the corner. A narrow creak of light came from a screwed-up window, giving it a weird nostalgic feel.
A bunch of boxes lay in the center. Donnor kept a scroll he was holding on it, facing each of us in an intense stare. We quickly huddled around him with a small smile.
He opened the scroll, spreading it on the box like it was his canvas.
Our heads went down on the opened scroll. A lot was happening. Marks, symbols, areas, photos, countries - my eyebrows grew tense as I tried to soak everything in.
No one spoke a word. I pursed my lips, staring at the map, waiting for Donnor to speak up.
He didn't say anything either, but pointed his finger at all the red-dotted countries on a small world map printed in one corner.
His finger tapped on them in a tune, falling with the silence. I exhaled, the tension in the air growing.
"Boulder Brothers have their bases all around the world. We know that from experience."
He broke the silence, pointing at the Asian countries, extending to Europe and the Atlantic Ocean.
Everyone around me nodded, and I copied them with a nod.
