Chapter 1: Rule One

I seemed to stand there, as I did in fact stare at the tree that was in front of me. As if it was that it was in fact trying to tell me some thing. Though I knew that it was nothing at all for me to be concerned about.
I felt like I had been lost in my head the last few days. As I felt like I still did in fact have a bit of regret. As to the fact that I had in fact left my parents in that sort of way.
I was just tired of the way that my father treated me. And him trying to control each and every thing that I did in fact do. As it was that I did in fact just seem to speak to my self quietly, all of the sudden.
"I hate him... I... I hope he dies..." I did in fact just seem to say. As I did in fact wince as to just what I had said. As I knew that it was some thing that I should not wish on some one.
Even if it was that it was a cat that I did in fact hate. As it was that I did in fact just seem to let out a soft sigh. As it was that I did in fact do my best to act as calm as I could.
Just as soon as it was that I had done as such a thing like that. In the end, I did in fact seem to wake my self up. And I then did in fact just seem to start to hear a voice from right beside me, all of the sudden.
"Are you going to mark your scent or not Shadow?" I did in fact hear the voice of my best friend. Which was in fact Dot that was in fact right behind me, at that.
I looked back at the she cat, all at the exact same time too. As it was that she had a bit of a smirk on her face. As to the fact that she had in fact said what she had said.
I felt like I couldn't help but to get upset by the fact that it was the case. Though I knew that I doubt she knew what I was thinking about. I felt like I couldn't help but to be upset for her pushing me to leave my parents.
I knew she was a little bit of a bad influence on me. As that was some thing my father always told me. But I simply didn't seem to care one bit, as I then spoke back to her.
"Why exactly do we need to mark a scent here? We are less than a day away from my parents... They could easily find me here... I want to get as far away from them as possible..." I did in fact just say to her.
I had my eyes squinted at her just as I had said that. As I made sure that she knew for a fact that I was being for real with what I had said. As it was that she did in fact just seem to stand there and stare back at me.
Before it was that she then did in fact just seem to roll her eyes. As it was that she also then began to let out a bit of a soft sigh to my too. As it was that that she also in the end, began to speak right back to me.
"It's not the fact that we are trying to stay here Shadow... We just need to make sure that with the places that we rest, and the places that we go... Other animals know that we are not playing around and we aren't soft..." She did in fact just seem to say.
I once again winced just as soon as it was that I had said that. As it was that I did in fact think back on one of the last things I had said to my mother. As I knew that I did in fact still care about her, at that.
I had told her that she was far too soft on me and my siblings. And that she did not have a clue as to just what it was that she was doing. As I knew that it had in fact hurt her as to just what I had said to her.
No I felt like I was a bit of a hypocrite for saying that. As I felt like I didn't have a single clue as to just what it was that I was doing. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to go and speak back to Dot, at that.
"Okay... Fine... But after this... Can we get some thing to eat? Because I am starving..." I did in fact just seem to say to her, all at once. As it was that I had my eyes wide just as I had said what I had said to her.
As it was that I had in fact said as to just what I had said. That was when it was that she once again seemed to laugh. Just as soon as it was that she did in fact turn her head away from me.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, I then did in fact just seem to wake my self up, all at once. As it was that she once again did in fact go right on ahead and seem to speak back to me.
"Well... I suppose you still aren't good at getting stuff for your self huh? You should have taken the offer that I gave you last night..." She did in fact just seem to say, all at the exact same time as well.
As she of course was bringing up the fact that it was. That she had in fact caught a squirrel, all at the exact same time too. Before it was that we had in fact headed to sleep.
I had of course declined her offer on the fact that we could share it. As I had told her that I would find some thing for my self. Which I knew that I was not a very good hunter, and I had not been able to do so.
As it was that I had in fact just seemed to have thought on that. That was when it was that I dipped my head a bit low to the ground. As I had a guilty look on my face, just as it was that I spoke right back to Dot.
"I'm sorry... I just... I didn't want to make it seem like you were my parents... I want to be as useful as you..." I did in fact just seem to say. As it was that I had a very serious look on my face just as I had said that to her.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, she then did in fact just seem to nod back to me, all at once. As it was clear to me that thankfully enough, she was no longer playing around.
Just as soon as it was that I did in fact realize that it was the case. I then did in fact let out a little bit of a soft sigh of some relief to my self. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to start to hear her voice go and speak back to me, at that.
"Fine... I suppose that I am a little bit hungry from sleeping..." She did in fact just seem to say. As it was that she did in fact roll her eyes at me. Just as soon as it was that she had said as to just what she had said.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, I did in fact just seem to squint my eyes right back at her. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to go and speak back to her right after that.
"Please don't be like that... I want to learn how to hunt... I don't want you to treat me like my parents did..." I did in fact just seem to say to her. As I had a very serious look on my face just as I had said that to her.
As it was that I had said as to just what I had said to her. That was when it was that she then did in fact just seem to have her eyes grow wide. As it was that she then also began to nod right back on over to me, at that.
Just as soon as it was that she had in fact done as such a thing like that. In the end, she also seemed to turn her head away from me. As it was that she then began to speak back to me, all of the sudden.
"Alright... Fine... I will teach you how to hunt a little bit I suppose... Come with me... There is another squirrel near by us..." She did in fact just seem to say, all of the sudden. As it was that she had a serious look on her face just as she had said that.
Just as soon as it was that she had said as to just what she had said. That was when it was that I felt a slight bit better about things. As it was that I did in fact just seem to go and smile right back at my friend.
As it was that I then began to start to go and follow her. As to just where it was that she was taking me. To where I needed to find the squirrel, all at the exact same time too.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, I did in fact seem to wake my self up. And I did in fact just seem to speak to my self quietly.
"Finally... Time to actually learn some thing useful and valuable for once..." I did in fact just seem to say, all at the exact same time too. As it was that I some times felt like I wished that my father had been like hers.
Though at the same time as well, I knew that he had left her out on her own when she was very young. Even if it was that he had in fact taught her all that she needed to know. I felt like I was at least lucky that my father had stayed by my side.
Though I was not all too sure as to why I was thinking on that. As I did in fact know as to just how much it was that I did in fact hate him. As it was that I once again did in fact do my best to get my thoughts off of him.
Just as soon as it was that I had seemed to have thought on that. In the end, I then noticed that Dot had stopped for what ever reason. As it was that she then did in fact look back at me and speak to me.
"Alright... The squirrel is right here... So be gentle coming to me Shadow... You need to make sure you don't stop on any thing or make any noise..." She did in fact just seem to say to me, all of the sudden.
Just as soon as it was that she had said what she had said to me. That was when it was that I did in fact just seem to blink my eyes. And I then did in fact just seem to stare, all at the exact same time too.
As it was that I seemed to do that for just a bit of some time. That was when it was that I then got over to her as quietly as possible. Making sure to not step on any twigs as I did as such a thing like that.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, I then did in fact just seem to look at her right in to her eyes. And I then did in fact just seem to speak back to her, all at the exact same time too.
"Alright... Now what do I do next?" I did in fact ask her, all at once. As I had my eyes wide just as soon as I had in fact said that to her. As I did in fact do my best to try to act as calm as I felt like I could do.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, I then did in fact just seem to wake my self up. As it was that I saw my friend look back at me as I had said that.
She also had her eyes wide just as she did as such a thing. As it was that I did in fact do my best to try to act as calm as I felt like I could do. Just as soon as it was that she did in fact go and speak back to me.
"Well... First I need you to look at the squirrel... You aren't just going to run at it blind..." She did in fact just seem to say to me. As she did in fact turn her head away from me just as she had in fact said that.
I did in fact just seem to blink my eyes just as she had said that. As I did in fact not like the fact that she seemed to be making fun of me. As it was that I did in fact just seem to look away from her as I had thought on that.
I then in stead got my eyes on the fact that it was. That she was in fact looking at a squirrel just now. And that I did in fact need to be doing the same thing, none the less.
Just as soon as it was that I had in fact thought on that. That was when it was that I seemed to wake my self up a fair bit. And I then did in fact just seem to simply speak back to her, all of the sudden.
"Okay... I see it... So what do I do next?" I did in fact just seem to say, all at the exact same time as well. As it was that I did in fact have a very serious look on my face as I had said that.
As it was that I had said as to just what I had said to her. That was when it was that the she cat looked back at me. As she had her eyes wide just as she had done so.
I still was not at all too sure as to just what was going on. As I did in fact do my best to try to act as calm as I felt like I could do. As in the end, I then did in fact just seem to simply go and hear her speak back to me.
"First things first... Don't be so loud... You are going to need to sneak up on the squirrel... And when you get close enough to think it might know you are there... Than you run at it as fast as you can... Show it no mercy..." She did in fact just seem to say.
As she had a smirk on her face just as she had said that. And as to just what she had said to me at the end of that all, none the less. As it was that it kind of did in fact just seem to make me shiver as to what she had said.
I did in fact do my best to try to stay as calm as I could. As I knew that this was just the part of how to live out in the wild as a cat. As it was that I did in fact just seem to do my best to try to act as calm as I could.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, I did in fact just seem to wake my self up, all at once. And I then did in fact just seem to go and speak back to her, all at the exact same time as well.
"Yeah... No mercy..." I did in fact just seem to say, all at once. As I felt like it was more pointed to me as to just what I had said. Rather than the fact that I felt like I had been talking to her, all at once.
Just as soon as I had seemed to have been that sort of way. In the end, I did in fact just seem to wake my self up just a little bit. And I then did in fact go and do as to what she had told.
Just as before, I made sure to not step on any thing. And to not make any sort of noise what so ever, all at the exact same time too. Just as it was that I did in fact seem to draw closer to the squirrel, none the less.
Just as soon as it was that I was no more than a couple tail lengths away. That was when it was that I felt like it was my time to strike. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to speak to my self quietly, just as soon as I had thought on that.
"Now... I go now!" I did in fact just seem to say, all at once. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to wake my self up, all at once. Just as soon as it was that I had seemed to have thought on that, all at once.
The squirrel had clearly heard as to just what I had said. As it did in fact lift its head up, all at the exact same time as well. As it was that it did in fact get ready to run up the closest tree that was near by.
How ever, it didn't seem to matter for it what so ever. As by that point, it was far too late for the squirrel. As it was that I easily seemed to take it down, as I gave it the death blow, just as she had told me to do.
Just as soon as it was that I had done as such a thing like that. That was when it was that I lifted the squirrel up in my mouth. And I did in fact just seem to mumble some thing to Dot, all at the exact same time too.
"I got it! I got it Dot!" I did in fact just seem to say to her. As I felt like I could not help but to be proud of my self, all at once. Just as soon as it was that I had in fact done what I had did.
My friends eyes opened wide in excitement for me. As it was that she also had a big smile on her face, all at once. Just as soon as it was that she had in fact come to the realization as to what had happened.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. That was when it was that she seemed to go and come my way, all at once. And she then did in fact also just seem to go and speak to me, all of the sudden.
"Oh! Wow! I wasn't expecting that! Good job Shadow!" She did in fact just seem to say. As it was clear to me that she was in fact proud of me. As it was that it did in fact make me feel a whole lot better.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to drop the squirrel, all at once. As it was that I did in fact speak to my friend, just as I had done such a thing.
"Well... Since you taught me how to catch a squirrel... I suppose that you should get the first bite..." I did in fact just seem to say to her, all at once. As I had my eyes wide just as it was that I had said that.
I knew that she was the only cat he had even tried to teach me things. As I felt like I was in fact very grateful for that being the case. Even if it was that I felt like she could in fact be annoying at often times.
As it was that I had just seemed to have thought on that, all at once. In the end, I did in fact just seem to wake my self up a fair bit. And I then did in fact just seem to hear her once again go and speak back to me.
"Well... I suppose so... But my first bite will be my last bite... I am not hungry at all... I was supposed to share that squirrel with you last night..." She did in fact just seem to say to me, all of the sudden.
She squinted her eyes just as soon as it was that she had said that. As it was that she was in fact reminding me as to the fact that it was. That she was in fact trying to be nice to me, all at the exact same time too.
As it was that I did in fact just seem to stare at her for a bit longer. That was when it was that I did in fact just seem to go on ahead. And I then did in fact seem to simply speak back to her, all at once.
"Yeah... Well... I am glad you didn't... I need to learn things for my self... Tired of every thing just being given to me..." I did in fact just seem to say back to her, at that.
As I had my eyes squinted at her just as I had said that. As it seemed like she could care less about any of it. As it was that I watched her take a bite of the squirrel, all at once.
As it almost was more like a nibble so it did in fact seem. As it was that she then did in fact just seem to toss it back on over to me. And she then did in fact go and speak back to me, just as soon as it was the case.
"Well... That is all I needed Shadow... You need to fill your self up... We've got a long day ahead of us..." She did in fact just seem to say. As it was that she once again had a serious look on her face just as she had said that.
As soon as it was that it was in fact the case, all at once. That was when it was that she then nodded to me. As I then did in fact seem to don the same thing right back on over to her.
Just as soon as it was that it had all seemed to be said and done. In the end, I did in fact just seem to wake my self up a fair bit. And I then did in fact just seem to go, all at once.
And I then did in fact seem to simply see her eyes grow wide. She did in fact almost seem to be shocked about some thing behind me. As it was that I was a bit lost as to just what it was that it could be.
Just as it was that I was about to turn my head and look. That was when it was that I heard the voice of a not so happy tom cat. As it was that I listened as to just what it was that the cat had to say.
"Well... Excuse me... But that squirrel was supposed to be ours... I recommend you don't bite out of that... Less you want to start a fight..." I did in fact just seem to hear the voice say.
Just as it was that it had said as to just what he had said to me. That was when it was that my eyes also seemed to grow wide. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to look at the tom cat, all of the sudden.
Just as soon as it was that I had in fact done as such a thing like that. I realized that the tom cat was about my age, all at the exact same time too. As it was that I also saw 2 she cats behind him that were my age as well.
As it was that I seemed to realize that it was in fact the case. I then felt like I was not afraid what so ever. As it was that I then did in fact begin to go and speak back to him.
"Um... Well... We caught it before you did... So that means it was actually our squirrel... Besides... Who are you?" I did in fact just seem to say to the tom cat, all at once. As it was that I had a very serious look on my face just as I had said that to him.
The tom cat didn't seem to be at all pleased by what I had said. As it was that he then did in fact just seem to hiss back at me. As it was that it didn't even seem to scare me one bit.
Even if it was that the tom cat did in fact have his claws out. I did in fact just seem to not be phased one bit. As it was that he then did in fact go right on ahead and speak back to me, all of the sudden.
"Why would I tell you who I am? I will not take this kind of disrespect! This is our land you are walking on! I should ask you he you are before I put my claws in to your throat..." He did in fact just seem to say to me, all at the exact same time too.
The tom cat even licked his lips just as he had said that to me. As I did my best to try to not laugh as to just what it was that he was doing. As it was very clear to me that the cat was scared, and that he was bluffing.
I seemed to simply play along with it how ever, all at once. As it was that I then did in fact just seem to have my eyes grow wide. As I pretended to be afraid of him, just as soon as it was that I spoke to him.
"Shadow... My name is Shadow..." I did in fact just seem to say to him. As it was that I did in fact have a very serious look on my face. Just as soon as it was that I had in fact said as to just what I had said to him.
Just as soon as it was that it had in fact just been the case. In the end, I then did in fact just seem to see that it was. That he then did in fact just simply shake his head back at me.
It seemed like he was about to speak to me, all at the exact same time too. That was until I heard the voice of Dot from right behind me. As it was that I then did in fact begin to listen as to just what she had to say.
"What are you doing Shadow? You don't just let random cats that we have never met before know who we are... If you want to live in the wild, you should know that is rule one..."
