I sat there against the tree as I struggled to stand. I was badly wounded. I knew it and the shadow Lycan knew it. How I knew it knew was because instead of using surprise attacks like before, the shadow Lycan walked straight towards me and stopped in the middle of the clearing. Its body looked like it was made from billowing smoke. Its red eyes glared at me with hate and spite. For a moment I thought this is it. This was how I die. Unable to avenge my parents or my clan. Not having been able to see Jakx one last time. My head was racing with thought of the have nots. I began to think about the friends I once had. The life that was stolen from me back in celestial pines. I know it doesn't make much sense, but I began to think of all the people in Celestial Pines who were suffering. I began to think of all the people whose lives would be forever destroyed because I wasn't there to save them. I thought of all the things I never got to do or the sights I would never see. I thought of home. The shadow Lycan began to approach me slowly. It couldn't have been more than 15 feet away from me. My twin swords lay in my hands at my side on the ground. I was ready to give up. I was ready to admit defeat to this Lycan whose identity I didn't know. This Lycan whose hate burned for me so much and I didn't even have the feintest clue as to why. The shadow Lycan got right in front of me and stopped as it knelt down to get face to face with me. It let out a monstrous growl as it stared deep into my eyes with pure hatred. I could see it in its eyes. Its eyes were full of suffering and pain. I imagined the feeling of its jaws sinking into my neck. I imagined the feeling of its claws tearing the flesh off my bones as it split my insides open. I imagined the cold embrace of death, how kind death would be if it were to take me quickly. The shadow Lycan put its hand around my throat squeezing just enough to keep me from slipping free of its grasp as it lifted me into the air. My twin blades still in my hands ready to drop as I began to lose my grip. My eyes began to droop as they got heavy. I remember thinking: this is it. This is where I die. I was ready to give up and call it quits when an image flashed before my eyes in the back of my mind. I saw a picture of my family from when I was a child. Mother and father smiling in the back. My brother Jakx and I were in the front smiling. It was a happy family photo. Then I saw a vision of my mother and father. I looked around at my surroundings. I was in the Hollow Woods, but instead of the false night and illuminated magical blue light that filled the woods, the sky was pure white. It was like a blinding light. If I had to guess I would say it's what people would imagine moving on after death is like. My mother and father were ahead of me on the path. They were both smiling as they held out their hands for me to take them and follow. I walked towards them ready to take their hands. I didn't feel a care in the world. No pain or sadness, no fear or sorrow. It was peaceful. The wind blew with falling leaves of the cherry blossoms from our back yard. My hands were inches from theirs as I reached out to take them. But just as I was about to take their hands the ground turned into water that rose to my ankles. I looked down to see it wasn't water, it was blood. I saw drops of blood dripping into the lake of blood. When I looked up again the sky was no longer white but a blood red. The trees were stained in blood. I turned to take my mother and father's hands but reeled back in fear when I did. Both my mother and father were standing there, their smiles faded, and their throats were slit. As I saw this all the memories of my family, my clan, and my home came rushing back to me.

My fear turned to anger and rage as it all came boiling to the surface. "No... this is wrong... I miss you so much. But you both died. My family was slaughtered! My home was burned to the ground! This isn't real! None of this is real! I can't come with you. I have to avenge our clan. I have to save my people! They're all counting on me to save them! And I will never stop fighting until I accomplish that goal!!! My name is Liyna Theodulf and I will be the next True Alpha!!" I screamed as my eyes shot open. I was in the grasp of the shadow Lycan. As my eyes shot open the shadow Lycan was startled. I guess it thought the fight was over. Before it even had time to react, I plunged both my twin blades into its sides as it lost its grip around my neck. I wasted no time kicking it off of me into the middle of the clearing as I dropped to my knees. I was filled with a newfound adrenaline. I didn't realize it at the time, but my Lycan healing factor kicked into gear. My healing was accelerated as I healed every bit of damage that I took from the shadow Lycan. I stood up and got to my feet as I pointed my right twin blade at the shadow Lycan. "Hear me and hear me now bitch! I have a destiny to fulfill and if you think you're going to take that from me you are sadly mistaken!" I said with a newfound anger and determination. I looked right into the eyes of the shadow Lycan as my eyes lit up to reveal my Lycan counterpart's eyes. My heterochromia also affected my Lycan counterpart's eyes. They were glowing purple and gold!
