Sal sat up on the edge of Larry's bed, sighing slightly. He pulled the blanket over himself and Larry, looking at the brunette.

"..Hey, Larry?" Sal said.

"What's up, Sal?" Larry glanced over at him, reaching up to turn off the lamp.

"Can we uh...Can we put on a movie before we go to sleep? It helps tire me out, and I just wanna get some sleep tonight-" Sal mumbled, avoiding eye contact.

"Yeah, man, of course. I don't mind!" Larry grinned happily, sitting up again.

"Are-are you sure?" Sal glanced at him.

"Sal, I don't give a shit if you need some white noise or not, just let me put on the damn movie." Larry grinned and flipped the blanket off himself and over Sal's head, who grumbled a response of some sort.

Larry got up and grabbed a VHS tape, and put it in the player, turning the volume down before hopping back into bed. He laid down and took his side of the blanket again, laying it over himself. Sal laid back again as well, focused on the movie that played quietly. The taller brunette moved closer and draped an arm around Sal's midsection, pulling him closer to himself a bit. Sal allowed this, glancing down at the other.

Sal had gotten used to Larry needing something to hold when asleep, not minding the closeness from the other. And Larry was cuddly in general, which Sal quickly learned he had gotten from his mom. The blue-haired boy never complained, considering how touch starved he was. The closeness and affection from his second family were incredibly reassuring.

Larry was out like a light, sleeping heavily and snoring softly. Sal was still awake, attempting to sleep but not achieving it. He hadn't taken his meds, and he didn't have Gizmo-another thing he preferred to have when sleeping. Sal was awake for hours, and despite his efforts, he never made it to sleep. Not only was he somewhere other than his room, but the fear of those hellish nightmares he experienced kept him up.

By about 2AM, Sal was up and opening Larry's bedroom door, peeking out of the room to the living room. Lisa was still awake and sipping a cup of tea, the TV on, and quietly playing a movie or show. Sal inhaled and held his breath, going to close the door until it made a very audible creaking sound. He froze, holding his breath still.

Footsteps could be heard softly approaching, and Sal backed up quickly, glancing around the room fearfully as Lisa opened the door slightly and peered in.

"Sal? Hon, are you okay? Why are you still up?" Lisa whispered, not wanting to wake the snoring brunette.

"..Couldn't sleep." Sal mumbled, avoiding eye contact and fumbling with the bottom of his shirt.

Lisa smiled a bit and motioned for him to follow her out of the bedroom, to which he hesitantly obeyed. Sal followed her to the couch, both of them taking a seat. Lisa took her tea back from its coaster, sipping it a bit before looking at the boy beside her. He avoided eye contact and stared at the floor, his leg bouncing a bit as he fidgeted with his hands.

"So, what's bothering you, kiddo?" Lisa looked at him, tilting her head to the side a bit.

Sal didn't reply, shrugging his shoulders as she watched him. She sighed softly, "Do you want something to eat, Sal? I know you don't sleep well when you haven't eaten.. And or taken your meds."

Sal glanced at her guiltily, shrinking into himself a bit. Lisa sighed softly and rubbed his back a bit.

"Oh, honey.. Did you forget your meds at your place?" Lisa spoke softly.

Sal nodded a bit, fighting back tired tears. He gripped his shirt tightly, shakily inhaling.

"It's okay, Sal..If you need to cry, you can..." Lisa grabbed a tissue box and set it on his knees.

Sal inhaled a bit, a shaky sob following as he began to cry. He was so tired and stressed from school over the week. The ghosts had been incredibly active lately, which was also messing with his emotions. Lisa said nothing, just allowing Sal to get his emotions out.

"Do you want some paper?" Lisa looked at him.

Sal shrugged and looked away, not saying a word as he used a few tissues to dry his mask, then lifted it off his face to dry his face from the tears that were rolling down his cheeks.

Lisa pulled his messy hair away from his face, tucking it behind his ear. Sal leaned into her a bit, his head resting on her shoulder. Lisa softly rubbed his arm.

"You're okay, Sal.. You're safe, I promise...How about you stay home today? Get some rest..Larry can stay home too, if you want?" Lisa looked at him.

"I...I don't want to keep him home..." Sal sniffled a bit.

"I'm sure he won't mind staying home today."

"... Are you sure?"

"Honey, it's Larry. He'd rather stay home than go to school any day of the week."

Sal laughed a bit, nodding, "You're right..."

Lisa nodded, staying close to him as they both relaxed in silence for a moment. She then inhaled and began to speak as she stood.

"I'll make you something to eat, and you can watch some TV with me for a while, okay? Lar-Bear will get your meds for you in the morning, and then you get some rest." She spoke in a soft tone, planting a gentle kiss onto the forehead of Sal's mask.

Sal nodded and waited for her to return, gently placing his prosthetic face onto the cushion of the couch beside him. He leaned back into the soft seat and sighed, staring up at the ceiling. He bit back more tears threatening to fall, his head foggy and mind mainly focused on his recurring night terrors.

He turned his head to the side a bit as he heard quiet footsteps returning to the couch. Lisa held a plate with some lasagna on it, which was steaming slightly. She took a seat beside Sal on the cushion without the mask. Sal happily took the plate, about to set it on his lap, when Lisa placed a pot holder on his thighs to avoid the hot glass. As the blue-haired boy ate his food, Lisa softly rubbed his back and peered over his shoulder to the plate occasionally, mostly focused on the television quietly playing an old black and white movie.

Several hours passed, and sunrise came, along with a groggy Larry from his bedroom. He fell onto the couch lazily, yawning and stretching a bit as he wrapped his arm around Sal's stomach, leaning into his side. Sal grinned and laid his arm over Larry's, letting him stay. Lisa finally returned from the bathroom, now wearing her work uniform. She saw the sleepy brunette and scoffed, putting her hands on her hips and shaking her head.

"Larry, get up, hun." She came over and shook him gently, grabbing her phone from the charger. "I need you to run up and grab Sal's meds for him."

Larry grumbled a drowsy reply, slowly sitting up and pushing his messy hair back into place as he stood. He stumbled out of the apartment with a set of spare keys, leaving Sal and Lisa.

Sal sat quietly, fidgeting with his sleeve a bit as he waited for Larry to return with the medication. Lisa sat with him, picking up a hairbrush from the nearby coffee table.

"Mind if I brush your hair for you, sweetie?" She held the item up, waving it side to side a bit.

"Oh, uhm..! No, I don't mind..Thank you, Lisa..." Sal nodded a bit, sitting closer with his back to her.

The two went silent as Lisa carefully brushed out Sal's blue hair, going slowly to not pull any knots too roughly.

Larry soon returned and tossed the bottle into Sal's lap, about to go to his room to get dressed.

Lisa called to him, "Don't worry about getting dressed Larry, you're staying home today. You need to stay with Sal today, okay? He didn't sleep a wink last night, and you need to take care of him for me."

Larry stopped and turned to his mother, "Wait, really? Shit, man.. Why didn't you wake me up?"

"I didn't want to bother you..." Sal trailed off, now avoiding eye contact.

Sal picked at his nails, peeling polish away and flicking it onto the floor, doing the same with the longer bit of nail itself. Larry sighed softly and walked over, holding his hand out for Sal to take. He grabbed onto the brunette's hand, pulling himself off the couch as Lisa stood. She hugged them both and told them to behave while she was gone, then went to work.

"Alright, dude, let's get you to bed." Larry smiled, bringing Sal to his bedroom.

The two laid down, the lights off and curtains closed. Sal curled up on his side, his head on Larry's chest as his older brother ran his fingers through the blue strands of hair. Sal dozed off and fell asleep, resting calmly on the other's chest. He slept peacefully. He felt safe.
