Summary: What if Link had fallen in Zelda's place ... what if, Link was the one who fought along side Rauru and the Sages in the Imprisoning War — as a Sage, himself?

"Link!" Zelda cried, desperately reaching for him as they both fell into the dark. Link stretched his injured hand, hoping to reach her.

Though, at this rate, they would both die.

Something caught Link's eye, and as it moved closer, it revealed itself as the hand that had held the strange corpse.

It slipped past Link, and went straight for Zelda, taking her arm. It held her in place, floating, as Link continued to fall.

Tears escaped Link's eyes, remaining silent, even in what seemed to be his last moments. It all seemed to happen so slowly, as if time itself had stopped. Zelda dropped the odd stone she had found, finding a burn mark in her palm where she once held it.

A voice spoke to her calmly, "This is not your burden to bear, my child."

Link reached for the stone, unsure why he felt a strong impulse. He desired it, wanted it to keep him safe.

As the tip of his finger graced the stone's edge, his form shattered into an array of light, leaving him unconscious.

"Oh, dear! His arm." A woman spoke, the rustle of clothing alerting Link's senses. He opened his eyes for a brief moment and saw someone new.

The woman smiled down at him sweetly, muttering a soft apology.

Link felt incredibly tired and his vision faded from him, his last memories being of a pair of arms carrying him some place new.

When Link woke, he was in a certainly unfamiliar place, surrounded by unfamiliar faces. Now on edge, Link rose from the bed quickly and moved to pick up the nearest item that could be considered a weapon.

His item was a bedside table, and as he picked it up, all of the items on top slid off and clattered onto the ground. This sound alerted the few people in the room, who were, each in their own, covered in a deep navy fur with large ears and fangs.

Link faltered, having never seen such a thing.

Had he been thinking properly, he would have come to the conclusion that these people were the ancient species, the Zonai.

But Link had been put over the edge, using the small table as a silent threat against these few creatures, daring them to approach the silent Knight.

The large doors on the North side of the room opened with ease as two figures stepped in, flanked by many more of the odd species. Link recognized the woman from before, taking in her features more properly now.

A searing pain spread through Link's arm, causing him to release the table. It clattered onto the stone floor and Link fell into the bed, tears stinging in his eyes once more, though, this time, it was caused from the immense amount of pain.

"Your Highness, what should we do?" One of the creatures asked. The one they looked to was a new strange creature that stood next to the slightly Hylian woman.

"Leave him to me and Queen Sonia." He ordered, and each of the odd creatures left the room with a newfound haste.

The door shut behind them and Link slumped onto the floor, accepting defeat.
