It was game night for Phil, and like usual, Ronnie wanted to watch the game on TV. You were both sitting on the sofa. You wouldn't usually watch Phil play anymore; it was hard for you, but you couldn't let Ronnie down.
"Mummy?""Yes, my love," you said, looking down at your son, who was looking up at you.
"Are you sad?" He curiously askedYour heart clenched hearing him ask you that, so you quickly shook your head and put him on your lap. "As long as I have you, I'm happy," you smiled, causing him to smile too, but it quickly faded again as he asked his next question.
"Does daddy make you sad?" He asked, gently playing with your necklace with his tiny fingers, not wanting to look at you. You stayed quiet, thinking about what you should say.
"Is daddy happy?" You asked him, and he looked at you and nodded slowly.
"Then I'm happy too," you said, smiling at him, and he smiled back again and hugged you tight. Deep down, you were hurting to see him with another woman.
But that's just life, unfortunately. The weekend had passed, and you were about to drop Ronnie off at phils. You received a phone call from work telling you that you needed to go to Manchester over the next week and attend meetings there. You spoke to Phil on the phone, and he seemed to have a week off anyway after his important game yesterday.
"Knock on the door, baby, I'll bring your stuff," you told your son. She went up the stairs and knocked on the door, just like you told her.
You heard Phil's excited voice, picking up and hugging his son. "I missed you so much, ," he said."Hey," he looked over at you; you brought Ronnie bag over; "hey," you handed it to him."Are you sure you can look after him for a week?" I can cancel otherwise."."It's fine; don't worry about it," he assured you."Well then, I'll see you soon, Ronnie , ok?" You looked at your son with a smile.
"I love you, mummy,"
"I love you too, angel," you placed a kiss on top of his head; "bye,Phil ," you slightly smiled at him. He watched you walk back to the car; you rolled the window down and waved at them before driving away.A couple of days had passed, and you were missing your son so much.he had called you every night with phils phone, talking to you and blowing you kisses, like he's doing right now.
"When are you coming home, mummy?"
"In about three days, my love, I miss you so much," you said, looking at him on the screen, wishing you were next to him and cuddling him."I miss you too, mummy," he said in a sad tone.
"Are you ok, ron? How is your dad?" You were concerned. You hadn't heard from phil only a few texts, but that was it. It wasn't like him; he would always give you a call and give you insight on how ronnie was doing."Mummy, he is sad," he told you with a worried look. Your stomach twisted, seeing him so upset. You got up from your bed.
"Why is he sad, baby?""He was fighting with Cassie," he said, looking away from the phone.he had seen his dad and Cassie argue downstairs; she had made him cry and yell, and ronnie didn't like seeing his dad upset, which is why he was upset right now.
You looked at him with a sympathetic look, "ronnie,I'm sure everything is ok.
People fight all the time, but they make up," you told him. After hanging up, you didn't know whether or not to call Phil about the situation; you just didn't want to get involved. Clearly the fight must've been bad because Phil would never put on a sad face in front of Ronnie, but it seemed like he couldn't pretend this time.
Phil walked into ronnies room after the phone call, sitting down on his bed.
"Did you speak to Mum?" He asked him.
"Is she ok?" He softly asked him as he brushed his hand through his soft hair."Mummy loves you," ronnie told him with a cheeky smile.Phil smiled as he looked at his son . "I love her too, so much," he mumbled, before placing a kiss on top of his head.
