Dib sat at his desk, staring at the empty seat next to the door. Zim hadn't shown up in class a whole week. Dib felt uneasy at the thought of Zim possibly striking any moment. The bell rang which meant it was lunchtime. Dib headed out of his classroom and walked his way to the lunchroom, meeting up with his sister, Gaz.
"Don't you think it's weird Zim hasn't shown up once in school this week?"
Gaz rolled her eyes and looked at Dib. "Let me guess, he's planning world domination again for the hundredth time? Dib, he's Zim. He's too stupid to get away with taking over the Earth."
"I don't know, I have a bad feeling. I'm going to check on him...see what he's up to..." he spoke strictly and made a fist. Gaz looked at him unimpressed and went back to playing her game.

After school, Dib headed down to the bright teal and purple house that stood out like a sore thumb in his neighborhood. Dib marched up to the door and knocked sternly.
"Zim! What are you hiding?! You won't get away with it, whatever it is!"
The door slowly opened. Dib furrowed his brows as he didn't see anyone on the other side before lowering his gaze and looking down at the small robot. Gir looked so upset which was not a nice sight to see. Even Dib felt sorry looking at the little guy.
Gir sniffled and whimpered.
"Master...not acting normal."
"What's that mean..?"
Gir allowed the boy inside, showing Dib the mess the house was in.  He took hold of his hand and led him to Zim's underground base.

As they arrived down to the lair, Zim was seen working on a device. His demeanor was off. Zim was not smiling and his antennas hung low towards the floor. His eye color seemed even darker and less vibrant. Dib crossed his arms and came up to Zim.
"What do you think you are doing!? Huh, space boy!? You making some sort of mind control device? Or-or a bomb? Another robot?!"
"No, Dib."
Dib was taken back at the low enthusiasm Zim displayed. "Uh, then...what is it?"
"It's my self-destruct watch." He simply said.
Dib fell silent before blinking and springing up again.
"You're- you're going to self destruct and take the whole earth with you! Aren't you!? Huh!?"
"Nope. Just me. Oh, that reminds me- can you take care of Gir? I'm not sure how he would do on his own." He looked over at Gir who was singing his little song and running around into walls.
"DEDODEODEDODEDOOOO!!!" He screamed and giggled madly.
Zim sighed and went back to working on his watch.
Dib furrowed his brows at Zim.
"So- you...you gave up?" He smiled softly.
"Mhm." Zim mumbled.
Dib immediately stopped smiling and furrowed his brows again.
"This is a trick- you are tricking me again-! I won't fall for it!"
"I can assure you I'm not tricking you. The Tallests have shunned me. I'm...not a...real invader...I was just their amusement..."
He teared up slightly as Red and Purple's laughter filled his mind. He blinked and shook his head, going back to working on his watch.
Dib stayed silent and watched the green Irken work. "So...you're gonna die?"
"Mhm."
"No world domination?"
"No world domination."
He looked up at him with his broken ruby red eyes.
Dib smiled big and screamed in victory.
"YES! FINALLY! FINALLY, I WIN AT SOMETHING!"
He cheerfully went up and out of Zim's home, happily walking back home.

"GAZ! I WIN! Dib finally WINS!"
Gaz was sitting on the couch playing one of her many video games.
"Mhm, why's that?" She asked, giving all of her attention to the game.
"Zim is killing himself!"
Gaz's eyes widened in shock, pausing her game.
"He what?!"
"Yeah! He's no longer a threat to Earth!"
He smiled confidently.
"And you're just going to let him?! Why would you leave him there?!" Gaz was extremely disturbed by what she was hearing from his brother.
"He's an alien, Gaz! He's a threat! Better him than earth!"
"You do realize he is all you have that is close to a friend, right?" She turned around to face the other.
"A friend?! He's my enemy, Gaz!"
"Think about it, Dib. Who takes you seriously? Who listens to you? Who do you think about EVERY DAY? He's all you got, Dib. And you're just going to let him die? He needs someone..."
Dib went quiet and listened to his disappointed sister. He darted his gaze to the floor as he thought about it.
"Be that someone."
Gaz spoke before getting up and walking out the room, crossing her arms.
