After roaming around the entire day with Rose for apparently no reason, I was again locked up in the gloomy cell. Cooper just sat there with his head covered with his hands.
“I would do anything to see some sunlight,” he said.
“It’s night, there’s no sunlight,” Ivan replied with a straight face.
“Those guys are stupid or what?” I said, looking at the hatch on the roof.
“This used to be a safe house before these idiots came here, that’s just another exit,” Cooper explained. There was a moment of silence. “Are you guys thinking the same thing as me?
“Eh? What?” I asked.
“Most of the fighters are locked up in the basement, if we can free them, then we might be able to put up a fight,” Cooper said. “No matter, what the prison, prisoners always outnumber guards, and once we take control of this place, we can start our reclamation battle.”
“Look at these doors, they are rusting, thanks to poor maintenance. We can maybe open it in one or two kicks,” I replied.
“You are absolutely right, these doors are nothing, we can break them,” Cooper agreed, folding his hands.
“I knew you guys would be coming up with some or other plans, here I brought a little friend,” Ivan said, handing me a screwdriver.
“Didn’t they check before sending you inside?” Cooper asked, surprised.
“Maybe I was a little lucky today,” he replied with thumbs up.
I tried to look outside, and the corridor was mostly empty with no sign of life. As it was dark, it gave us the advantage of putting our plan into action without any watchful eyes to disturb.
Please work, please work.
I stretched my hand outside and placed the pointed part of the screwdriver on the lock and hit it on the top with full force, luckily, it flew open after a few tries. I slowly came outside and looked around for the guards.
“Way’s clear,” I whispered.
“Let’s free everyone before they come back,” Cooper whispered back.
The girls were locked in the adjoining cell. Both of them were surprised to see us.
“I can’t believe we are doing this,” Nina said in a low voice, dusting her shoulders.
The five of us slowly made our way towards the basement. Two guards were standing at the entrance with their backs facing us. Cooper and Nina flew into action and knocked them in the head, and both of them fainted.
“We have some firearms now,” Cooper said, picking up the gun. “This rifle is enough to blow their useless heads.”
I looked at the cells which were cramped with people who sat there with all hope lost.
There are enough men to put up a fight, but we are still outnumbered.
I broke open all the cells with the screwdriver and my hands turned red before I came to the last one. After that, all of us made our way to the control room of the prison. We could hear men talking and laughing among themselves.
“Are you ready?” I said, looking at Cooper and Nina.
“Any time,” Cooper replied.
I kicked open the door and ducked, and both of them fired at the guards. In a minute everything was calm again, the small room was covered with blood and the few who survived screamed in pain.
