That evening, I alone sat in one of the empty rooms, the sunlight came in through the window, and the dust was clearly visible, I placed my finger blocking it. Finn said they used to have main discussions here before moving to the main office.

“Erik, are you inside?” Jane said, knocking on the door.

“Come in.”

“What are you doing here all alone?” she asked, leaning against the opposite wall while facing me.

“J-Jane, I want you to teach me close-range combat,” I said, getting up.

“Close-range combat? Eh? Come on, you are nothing less than me.”

“No, your fighting technique is different from mine, I want you to teach me,” I insisted.

She stood up and cracked her fingers. “Ok, come at me.”

I clenched my fists and charged at her, she dodged my punch and pushed me at the wall.

“Well Erik, I’m not saying my fighting skills are superior to yours, but your reflexes require some work.”

“As you say, Miss Jane,” I said and smirked.

I again ran at her, but this time before hitting, I ducked and grabbed her legs and slowly pulled them, she fell on the ground, uninjured.

“That was nice. You are better than me,” she complimented.

We stood up. With quick technique, she pinned me against the wall.

“Whoa, you are so good, where you learn?” I asked, amazed.

“I was constantly bullied during my school days until one day I refused to.”

“Bullied? You? That sounds a little hard to believe. Why?”

“Some stupid rumours were going on in school saying that I proposed to the school’s most famous guy, obviously, they were not true, but the girls gave me a hard time for a few months.”

“Ahh! Jane is forcing herself on Erik! Someone same my poor Erik before this beast swallows him up,” Amy said, terrified, who came out of nowhere.

“I-it’s not what you think, Amy,” I tried to make her understand.

Jane sighed and looked at me. “Come on, we have some misunderstandings to clear.”

THAT NIGHT

“Erik, I saw someone!” Ty said, panting while entering our room. I got up and followed him hurriedly, he handed me the binoculars once we reached the terrace.

“Are they here?” Jane asked, walking towards us.

“Is everyone ready? It's time,” I replied, handing back the binoculars to him. “Everyone, take your positions!” I shouted.

I and Jane took a table as a cover, and then we heard a loud explosive sound and the next moment, the entrance flew open.

Out of the car came eight adults, heavily armed, all of them looked scary and one of them even had a scar from his forehead to the chin.

“Hello little children, where are you? Show yourself please.”

“Don’t come out until I tell you,” I whispered to Jane and stood up.

“Hello, little one, I’m Mason, where are your friends?” he asked.

“M-Mason, is that you?” I replied, taking a closer look.
