Piper's POV~
The big day had finally arrived. And I was beyond stressed. Of course as everyone knows, you can't see your fiancee the day of the wedding or else it's bad luck. So I couldn't even see Mack in order to calm my nerves. We were in the dressing room, and everyone was rushing around. Stacey, Bailey, and Talia were bickering as per usual. Jen was on the phone with Shane and Rose was helping me with my hair. I anxiously rubbed the silk robe that covered my body and took a shaky glance at my wedding dress hanging on the rack. "I can't believe this is really happening." I breathed. "You better believe it, sweetheart." Muttered Rose who was placing bobby pins in my hair. "In less than three hours you'll be a married woman." "Wait." I scrambled out of my cushioned seat and proceeded to pace around the room. "Where the fuck are my shoes?" "Shane has them." Jen replied. "He's on his way with them right now." "Why the fuck does Shane have my shoes? What about the cake? And the tuxedos!" "Done and done, my sweet." said Jen. "Stop worrying now, will ya?"
Just then there was a knock at the door. It opened a crack to reveal Shane's head. He was covering his eyes. "Is everyone decent?" Jen annoyingly yanked him into the room. He held up the box that had my shoes in it and I grabbed it happily. "Yes! Thank you, Shane. You're a lifesaver!" I planted a small kiss on the cheek of my future brother-in-law and shooed him out. "She needs to put on her dress!" Jen explained as Shane protested. For once, everything was falling into place.
Mack's POV~
"This is it, boys." Said Eddie as I looked in the mirror, adjusting my bow tie. "Mack's gonna be a married man." "I can't believe it." said Isaac. "Can you imagine Mack-Attack paying the electric bill and buying groceries?" Eddie snorted. "No, cause he's unemployed." David stood up. "Actually, Mack, I wanted to talk to you about that." I turned around, eyebrows raised. "Recently I had to fire a lot of people at my firm." David explained. "A high school diploma is the minimal required education and...well, would you like to come work for me?" My eyes widened. "David, that's so nice of you. It's just...I suck at math." David laughed. "Making sure financial records are accurate doesn't require much math. But if all else fails, you could always be a receptionist." I grinned and pulled David into a hug. "Thanks, man." "Not to interrupt or anything, Mackeroni," Isaac began. "But where's your dad at?"
Vince's POV~
I went back to the house, slowly opening the door and carefully trying not to ruin my tux. "Daphne?" I called. I heard footsteps from upstairs and saw my wife stomp down the stairs, her hair in a messy bun and her reading glasses perched on her nose. "Vince, what the hell?" I coughed. "Our son's getting married today, Daph. And our other son is the best man." It was hard to pinpoint the pained expression on her face. "What's it matter?" she finally responded. "They're both dead to me." "And what about me?" I challenged. "Me? Your husband? Am I dead to you, too?" Daphne's mouth was a straight line. "I don't know, you tell me." "I came here to tell you one thing. At this point, I don't care about what you feel regarding the choices of our children. I do not give one single ounce of a fuck." "Vincent—-" "No!" I cut her off. "I'm giving you an ultimatum. You either suck it up and go to Mackenzie's wedding and cut it out with this shitty attitude you've had, or I'm filing for divorce and that will be the end of everything." At first she said nothing, and I started to wonder if our entire marriage and lives together were going to be easily erased from her memory in order to fuel her ego. Then she spoke. "Give me 20 minutes to get ready and drive me to the chapel."
Piper's POV~
Once I had gotten ready, I stood outside the chapel doors, waiting to walk down the aisle. Everyone else was already inside, so it was just me and my dad. "You sure you wanna do this?" he joked. I laughed. "Yeah, Dad. I am." I heard the "here comes the bride" song start playing on the organ and the doors opened for us. The only thing I could look at was Mack. He looked so cute in that tux and he had the cheekiest grin on his face when he saw me. My heart was beating hard in my chest and everything seemed to slow down. It was like I was tuning everything out until it was time for the vows. Mack went first. "Piper, before I met you, I didn't think I could ever be happy again. You showed me this whole new side of the world. And you taught me to see the good in everything and everyone. I already spent half of my life feeling sorry for myself, and I've already been in the darkest places of my mind. I hope that starting this new chapter of my life with you, there will be no darkness. Only light." I refused to cry because who wants to spend their wedding day with smeared makeup?
Oh fuck, it's my turn. "Mack, my life before you was one full of never-ending stress and resentment. I wasn't doing anything with my life. I struggled to make ends meet and I don't know what would have happened to me if I'd continued down that road. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have learned to be free. I wouldn't have been able to let go of the frustration and take hold of my own life for once. I owe you my life for that." The officiant straightened up. "Do you, Mackenzie Gibbons, take Piper Watson as your lawfully wedded wife to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" Mack nodded. "I do." The officiant turned to me and I squirmed under the pressure. "And do you, Piper Watson, take Mackenzie Gibbons as your lawfully wedded husband to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" I swallowed. "I do."
The officiant beamed. "Then by the power vested in me by the State of Massachusetts, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." "Fuck yeah you can!" I heard Isaac exclaim as me and Mack kissed passionately. Our first kiss as husband and wife. As we broke apart, I couldn't help but giggle at the glare the officiant was giving Isaac for swearing in a wedding chapel. He spoke over the cheering. "And now presenting for the first time ever, Mr. and Mrs. Mackenzie Gibbons!"
