So...Now What?

Piper's POV~

I slammed the big packet of papers on top of Mr. Anderson's desk. "I'm sorry it took so long to schedule another meeting with you." I began. Mr. Anderson took the papers. "That's quite alright. Congrats on the wedding, by the way." "Thank you. We just got back from our honeymoon in Fiji." Mr. Anderson appeared to be puzzled as he looked through the papers. "This is the original story, is it not?" I nodded. "It is, sir." He paused. "Piper, what is this?" I straightened up in my chair. "I've decided...I'm not changing my story, sir. My boy—sorry, husband told me that it was enough and it is. I'm not rearranging my life to fit the needs of others. I'm done with that now. I'm not changing it. If you refuse to print it, I can live with that. I can find another publisher. JK Rowling went to 15 different publishers before Harry Potter got published, and if I have to do the same with this book, so be it."

Anderson looked like he was about to throw up. He looked at the papers, and then back at me. His face looked grim. "Very well. It takes a lot of backbone to say that sort of thing to me. And if I didn't like you, you wouldn't still be sitting there." he extended his hand to me. "We have a deal."

6 months later~

"Piper hurry up!" Mack was so excited. We were having a formal dinner party in celebration of not only my new book release, but Mack's new job at Watson Accounting Firm. I was so excited too. "I'm almost done!" I called. I quickly applied red lipstick and smoothed out my short red dress. I put on my nude heels and met Mack at the car. He wouldn't stop talking. "And I make a lot and everyone who works there is super nice, and I think I'll be able to pay for everything we'll ever need up until retirement!" I chuckled. "That's great, honey." We pulled up to the restaurant, which was fully reserved for us and all of our friends and family, and went in to a roar of applause. My parents and Jen and Rose, and Mack's parents and Shane and all of our friends were there. Nothing beat the sight of Mack's mom apologizing to everyone and getting to share a special dance with Mack at the wedding reception. I'm so glad she was here to celebrate with us now. Jen and Rose were engaged, and Isaac started dating my friend Talia after they wouldn't stop giving each other sexual expressions at the wedding.

Pretty soon we were all given glasses of champagne and Eddie was tapping his glass with a knife to get everyone's attention. "I would like to propose a toast." he announced, raising his glass. "To Mack and Piper, whose happiness has somehow infected the rest of us." Everyone laughed and repeated: "To Mack and Piper!" I turned to my husband, who seemed to appear more and more happy each day. "Did you hear that?" I asked. "To us." We linked our arms and sipped our champagne. We all then proceeded to laugh and talk and have a good time, and everything that was wrong with the world seemed to stop for at least one night. I'm not sure about a lot of things in this world, but the only thing I'm sure of now is that I love Mackenzie Gibbons.
