Piper's POV~

I sat in front of my computer the next morning, trying to find some way to edit my book like Mr. Anderson requested. My newly cut short hair was tamed with a chiffon floral headband. My phone buzzed next to me and I saw a text from Jen. It read: Can we come over for breakfast? :). I smiled. Her and Rose's relationship was going so well, they're almost inseparable. Well, not the gross kind of inseparable. I wrote back of course :) macky's still sleeping. Mack got home pretty late from the bar, but from what I gather, he got all of his groomsmen. He didn't make a comment about my hair, but I'll cut him some slack because he was hella drunk. I heard the door open and Jen and Rose walked in. Jen gave me the peace sign. "What up, bitch." "Hey, whore." I responded, not looking up from my computer screen. "Hello, Piper." Rose greeted me and gave me a hug. "What's up, you guys?" Jen shrugged and propped herself on top of the counter. "We were at the LGBT film festival downtown. It was fun."

Rose nodded and joined Jen on the counter top. "How's the book coming?" I shook my head. "It's not. My publisher wants it changed but I don't think I can do it. I could always go to a different publisher, but..." "Mr. Anderson's stuck with you from the start." Jen finished. "It's totally understandable, don't worry about it. What's Mack doing?" "Sleeping." I replied. "He had a pretty wild night last night." As if on cue, Mack made his way down the stairs with his usually bright eyes dull and tired. "Hi, Jen. Hi, Rose." He greeted politely as he went straight to the coffee machine. He did a double take when he saw me and my hair. "I didn't know you cut your hair." he said. "I cut it yesterday." I said scrolling through my blog. He poured his coffee. "Sorry I didn't notice." He came over to me and kissed me on the cheek. "It's okay." Jen hopped down from the counter and offered her hand to Rose, who hopped down too. "Pipes, I'm making breakfast. You do you for a bit." Her and Rose then proceeded to giggle amongst themselves while whipping up some breakfast.

"Can I just pretend I don't have to do this right now?" I asked Mack. He sipped his coffee. "Sure. Unless you wanna pay the bills." "I'll always have the money." I grumbled. "But love isn't about money." "I agree." he said. "But this is a nice house and I don't wanna lose it because my wife is a quitter." Oh my god he just called me his wife and we aren't even married yet. "I'll figure it out." I insisted. "It'll be easier when we're married." said Mack. "I just hope you're not always high maintenance." I laughed. "As long as you can make scrambled eggs and you have car insurance it's enough for me." He smiled. "I can make scrambled eggs but I don't think I have car insurance." That reminded me of when I got into the car accident that nearly killed me. I'm glad my little car got fixed up and that's all in the past. The doorbell then rang and I jumped up. "Hurry up, breakfast is ready!" Rose called. "Okay!" I yelled over my shoulder as I answered the door.

It was a man I didn't know. He had brown hair and dark eyes. "Can I help you?" I asked. He stared at me in awe. "Are you Piper?" "Yeah?" I looked at him confusingly. Mack came up behind me to see who it was. "What are you doing here?" he demanded. The man laughed. "You're not happy to see me?" I grabbed Mack's arm. "Mack, who is this?" The man approached the doorway. "You didn't tell your own fiancee about me? Low blow." "Mack." I said again, gripping his arm more tightly. "I'm sorry." Mack coughed. "Piper, this is Shane." Shane raised his eyebrows. "That's it? That's my introduction?" "Who is he?" I asked cautiously. Mack sighed.

"He's my brother."
