as alex stepped into the school's halls, making a bee line to her locker, she became increasingly aware of the looks she was getting.

i have never locked eyes with this many people...ugh!

she had the urge the return the frowns and the confusing looks just to get on their nerves but she didn't have the guts. instead, she clutched her bookbag closer to her body and increased her speed, her short brown bob swaying side to side.

quickly, alex opened her locker, sighing in relief at the familiar comfort decorations she placed. pictures of her favorite fictional characters, a tiny mirror for reassuring her look with the words "you are beautiful" taped on, inspiring quotes from movies and books she loves, a tiny squish-mellow for stress squeezes and her beauty essential which consisted of a mini version of her favorite fruit perfume and deodorant.

she mentally told the picture of miguel o'hara that she was so thankful to see him after an embarrassing and horrible scene in the school bus.

alex gathered her books for her first couple classes replaces them with some she had in her bookbag and ended with a spritz of perfume.

"is that her? the pictures' kinda blurry," she heard someone whispered nearby.

she stopped mid spritz. without looking around she perked her ears up to hear.

"yup. getting herself ready to see her boo," another one snickered.

they're not talking about me, right?

"not with that perfume she is. where'd she get that? dollar tree?"

yup they're talking about me.

alex rolled her eyes and stood up straighter, tossing her perfume in her locker and slamming the locker door shut with a bang.

she turned to see the tiny group of students gathered watching her from the lockers behind her.

realizing she was looking they snickered amongst themselves and turned around, pretending they were busy.

a bunch of cowards.

alex managed to find her nonexistent guts and rolled her eyes at the group before stomping away.

this wasn't her typical morning at all, in fact she was sure she was casual acquaintances with one of those people in that group, so why the sudden hostility?

she made her way down the hall in the direction of her homeroom class and saw a student on his phone, looking to alex then to his screen.

alex furrowed her brows as she clutched the straps of her bookbag, inching away from the dude's direction.

"what the hell," she whispered to herself and speed walked to the bathroom.

she found an empty stall and pulled out her phone. there's gotta be something on social media that's the only other way people would notice her so quickly. and for what? it can't be...

then it hit her.

she quickly switched her instagram account to her finsta, an account she used to be in the know about the school drama (not that she really cares so much but it's inspiring fanfiction material) that managed to get the follows of the popular kids who assume she's a random girl in their school.

alex's shaking hands found someone's story ari jacobs had reposted someone's else: pete.pickle12.

alex placed a hand over her mouth in horror at the blurry picture of her walking inside the school building 10 minutes ago with the caption
