••• FOUR •••
AshtonI met Patrick and Sophie when I was only six. Patrick introduced me to Sophie as his gross, bratty little sister, but no matter how much Patrick teased her, I never joined in. It wasn't like in the movies where it was love at first sight. I was six. I thought girls were weird and gross, but I didn't think of Sophie like that for some reason.
I walked inside my hotel room later that night and threw my duffel bag on the ground. I tried to shake thoughts of Sophie from my mind and tried to remind myself that she was just my best friend's little sister. I shouldn't be thinking about her in any way other than that.
My phone vibrating in my back pocket broke me from my thoughts and I pulled it out to reveal that I had a message from Sophie on Instagram. I opened her message thinking it was a meme or something, but nothing could've prepared me for the sexy selfie that she sent me holding the flowers I got her.
Thank you for the flowers, Maverick.
Who knew you could be so sweet?
A smirk crept onto my face as I slapped myself on the back again for remembering. My smile slowly started to fade as a text from Patrick appeared on the top of my screen reminding me that we have practice tomorrow morning and to not be late. I looked away from the text and back to the selfie Sophie had sent.
She was drop-dead gorgeous as she stared back at me with a flirty smile and wearing a white cotton tank top with little flowers on it. I groaned as I forced myself to lock my phone and curse at God for making her so damn attractive.
I tossed my phone on my bed then stormed into the bathroom and prepared to take a cold shower to help stop me from thinking what she looked like without that tank top on. I looked at myself in the mirror in confusion and shook my head frustratedly. "Get it together, Maverick. Jesus." I hissed and ripped my shirt over my head.
Once I finished my shower, I crawled into bed and plugged my phone into the charger. I unlocked in and was greeted by that damn selfie again, and my mind was assaulted with thoughts of what it would be like to kiss that sexy smile off her face. For fuck's sake, what was wrong with me?
I slammed my phone on the nightstand and clenched my eyes shut as I tried to force myself to sleep. But I knew there was no point. I could keep reminding myself a million times that she was off limits because she was Patrick's sister, but it was too late. That enchanting smile stole any rational thought from my mind, and I was screwed.
I picked up my phone once more and saved the picture to my camera roll.
