Something Is Up

Hermione POV:

We all shot to our feet and appladed when the hat chose Sophie for Griffindoor. I will say I was a little jealous of Sophie when I first saw her. She was stunning. Any girl would have payed millions of pounds to be her. But after I learned she was a foster child I felt bad.

Anyways, she made her way and sat next to me at the table.

"That was brilliant!" Ron exclaimed. "The hat has never taken that long, besides Harry."

Harry tinted pink, "What can I say, I guess Sophie is a special girl."

Sophie smiled, and I noticed she had an ear bud in. Snape would kill her if he caught her. I made a mental note to tell her that later. We listened to the rest of the students get put in their houses. After Dumbledoor tapped his glass with a knife.

After he caught everyones attention, and the conversations died down, he spoke the words that everyone has been waiting for the whole night. "Let the feast begin."

All the food appeared on the table. I took a turkey leg, salad, pork, etc. Everyone got their own versions of plates, but I couldn't help but notice Sophie had no meat on her plate what so ever.

I tapped on her shoulder. "You realize the meat is what everyone loves, right?"

She blushed slightly. "I don't like meat."

Well... That explains it. I guess.

We all ate until we felt like throwing up. After we went to the common room, where all the first years gasped. Harry, Ron, and I couldn't help but snicker. Sophie and I said goodnight to the boys, as we went to our rooms.

Sophie gasped at the room. I knew the feeling, it felt so good to be back! All my stuff were next to my bed already, and Sophie's was right next to mine. We talked about what our homes were like, and went over Sophie's schedule. When we finally got ready for bed, we changed into our nightgowns and brushed our teeth. All the girls said goodnight to eachother, and turned off the lights where I fell into a nightmarish slumber.

Harry, Ron, Sophie, and I were in front of the school, with an army of students behind us. The school had a forcefield around it, trapping us inside. A piece of the forcefield opened. Three people wearing black cloaks with an eye walked toward us and stayed right outside the forcefield.

"Sophie Foster," One of them said, as a ball of fire formed in his hand. "Its time."

I had no idea what was going on, and Harry and Ron had the same confused expression. Sophie walked out to them, where the dome closed up again seperating us from her. The cloaked people escorted Sophie away, to a cliff right in front us.

"Take one last look at your friend." One of the cloaked figures called to us.

Sophie looked at us with worried and scared eyes, as a cloth was pressed on her face making her fall limp in her capturers arms. The people held up a weird shaped object towards the sun, making them glitter away.

My eyes snapped over, as I was shivering in cold sweat. I glanced over at Sophie's bed, where it was flat.

Where is she?

I leaped out of the bed as quietly as I could, as I made my way to the common room. I heard some weird sounds, like gibberish. I looked up from the stairway, to find Sophie leaning over an object that I couldn't see. The gibberish continued as a dim light flashed in front of her.

"Um Sophie?" I said.

The light disappered, and Sophie whipped around facing my direction.

"Oh. Um. Hi Hermione." She said. "Whats up?"

"What are you doing?"

Sophie thought for a second. "I am reading." She held up a book. "I didn't want to wake any of the girls in our room with the flashlight I had, so I came here."

I nodded, still confused. "What was that weird noise?"

I swear she turned pale. "It- it was that toad!"

She pointed to Nevils toad. "They make some wierd noises."

I nodded, and Sophie and I went back to bed. That wasn't a toad. And that wasn't a flashlight. I knew something was up and I was going to figure it out.
