"Hey Mom, Dad,"Y/N began once she joined her parents at the table, the smell of spaghetti wafting through the air. "I was thinking... Would it be okay if I slept by the lake tonight?"

Her parents looked up, surprised and with a hint of caution in their gazes. "The lake? Alone?" her mother questioned, a frown creasing her brow. Y/N nodded, forcing a casual smile. "Yeah, I just want to enjoy the view a bit more. Under the stars, you know?"

Her parents exchanged a glance, clearly reluctant. Her father spoke up, a note of concern in his voice. "Y/N, it's not safe. Especially at night, out in the open like that." Y/N's heart was racing, a mixture of excitement and anxiety. She had to convince them, she couldn't let this moment slip away.

"I know, Dad, but I'll be careful," she reassured him, trying to sound as confident as possible. "I'll set up a tent and everything. I'll even keep a flashlight with me. I'll be safe, I promise." Her parents were still hesitant, their faces betraying their worries. But Y/N could sense that they were starting to waver.

"Please, Mom, Dad," she pleaded, her voice soft yet determined. "I want to do this. I promise I'll be responsible. I want some alone time in nature, under the stars. It would mean a lot to me." Her parents looked at each other, holding a silent conversation in their gazes. The thought of their daughter spending the night alone in the wilderness was obviously not easy to stomach.

But finally, her father sighed, relenting to her request. "Alright," he conceded. "But you have to promise us you'll be careful, okay? No foolish risks." Y/N breathed a sigh of relief, her heart soaring at her father's words. "I promise," she swore, her voice firm. "I'll be careful, and I'll stay in contact with you. I have my phone, I'll call you after I set up my tent, okay?"

She quickly finished her plate of spaghetti, her mind already on her upcoming sleepover by the lake. Excitement and anticipation bubbled within her as she rose from the table, excusing herself and heading back to her tent.

There, she rummaged through her belongings, gathering some essentials: a flashlight, a battery-powered lantern, a couple of blankets, and a pillow. Her hands hurried as she put everything into a large backpack, zipping it up with a sense of urgency. She added a few more practical items, like a bottle of water, a small first aid kit, and a few snacks.

Finally, she slipped on a warm hoodie and grabbed a windbreaker just in case. One last look around her tent to make sure she hadn't forgotten anything, and she was as ready as she could be. With her backpack on and her mind set on her destination, Yuki exited her tent, a thrill of anticipation coursing through her veins.

The night had fully enveloped the campsite now, the stars a canopy of glittering lights in the sky. The air was crisp and cool, the faint chirping of crickets providing a natural symphony. Y/N headed for the lake, her steps quick but purposeful. Her eyes were adjusted to the darkness now, the glow of the stars illuminating her path to the water's edge. She could already picture the man standing there, waiting for her. The thought sent butterflies fluttering in her stomach, her heart thudding excitedly against her ribcage.

As Y/N reached the ramp, her excitement turned to confusion. The man was nowhere to be found. No hulking figure by the edge of the water. Just a cat mewling softly in the darkness.

"He's not here?" she murmured, a pang of disappointment in her voice. She looked around, scanning the area for any signs of him. "Where did he go...?"
