3 - ''Call me on the Phone at Three, I Talk to you While Half Asleep''

// A/N Sorry about the updates taking a while! In case you didn't know, I'm making a Comedy Gold fanfic that I am realising I spend more time working on than this! I won't be going on any major hiatus or anything, just expect more frequent updates on that one is all! Thank you for your patience! Oh also prologue takes place just before this!! //

Lightbulb wasn't exactly the type to fall asleep on time. She powered through every school day with 4 or less hours of sleep, and any energy drink she could get her hands on. Although, she never needed it. She only really liked the taste of them. It also made her feel more like an "adult" in her eyes.

Test Tube, on the other hand, made sure she got a proper amount of sleep. 8 hours, give or take a half an hour. She'd wake up at 5:30 to make sure she had everything ready for the school day. She would only drink coffee if she'd stayed up making sure she could get her school work done.

This caused for extremely late phone calls, and even later text messages. Lightbulb would call Test Tube any time she got bored, waking up Test Tube most of the time. Sometimes for help on her homework, though. Lightbulb didn't exactly excel at school. She was only decently good at their technology class. And that would end after the quarter, so she wasn't the greatest at academics.

She picked up her phone, and dialed in Test Tube's number. She did it for fun, she didn't even need a contact because she had it memorised by now. She pressed the call button, put the phone up on her dresser - it was a video call - and waited for her to pick up. She always did. The phone rang twice, and half way through a third.

"Hello?" Test Tube was groggy, and was clearly woken up by the call.

With too much energy, Lightbulb was screaming into her phone "Hey 'Tube!"

"Lightbulb, it is..." She paused, presumably checking the time. "3:06 in the morning. Why are you calling? Also, quiet down. You're going to wake both mine and your family up."

She lowered her voice slightly, and continued talking. "Because I'm boredddd!!"

"But you need to go to sleep." Test Tube yawned. "And so do I."

"Fine... But can you just talk to me for a little bit longer?"

"Fine." She sighed. "About what?"

"I don't know. How have you been liking school so far?"

"It's nice, I guess. Better than my old school."

"What about it is better?"

"Oh, well, the teachers for one." She yawned again. "I mean, they're much nicer here. We have more time to complete homework, and they're less strict about my handwriting."

Test Tube has always had messy handwriting. Her brain moved much faster than her head ever could. Lightbulb started to yawn and nod off listening to Test Tube as she continued. The reason they'd agreed to a video call is because they loved seeing each other. Only Lightbulb knew, Test Tube was still clueless.

"And the students here, especially you, are so much nicer." She would motion with her hands every once-in-a-while.

Lightbulb squinted, seeing something colourful and slightly glowing flash across the screen. "Are you still wearing the bracelet I made you?" Lightbulb chuckled, and they both flushed. Test Tube mainly from embarrassment.

"Uhm, yeah. It glows in the dark; that's really cool."

"Oh!" Lightbulb yawned. "Thanks!"

Test Tube nodded "Mhm! Anyway, the classes are much simpler as well."

She went on, yawning frequently. Lightbulb fell asleep, phone in hand, listening to Test Tube rant. When she realised, she decided against hanging up, so the noise wouldn't wake her up. She muted herself, and thought for a little. About how she felt around Lightbulb, or how she reacted when they were close. The thought of a crush came up, and was dismissed quickly. The wasn't ready. She fell asleep to Lightbulb's light snoring.
