''Cause blue is your favourite colour'
The words of the music ran through Lightbulb's ears. She was listening to Cavetown, specifically Meteor Shower, while filling a small, green bag with all types of... whatever you wanna call them. Knick-knacks, trinkets, anything.
'Missing pieces of my skull.'
Today was a very special day, September 26th, as it was someone's birthday. No, not Lightbulb's. It was Test Tube's. Shed spent the week buying gifts for her and making more bracelets than she knew what to do with.
'I'll sow on patches of my own soul.'
Test Tube, on the other hand, was busy buying stuff for Paintbrush's birthday, which was only in a few weeks. Test Tube was buying Paintbrush something simple for their birthday - a canvas, a few brushes, and selection of paint. She knew they had liked painting, so it seemed fitting.
'There's nothing you or I can do, so let the stars fall.'
Lightbulb had remembered about Paintbrush's birthday a bit into her binge-shopping for Test Tube's birthday, and picked up small matching necklaces for the two. A moon and a sun. They connected and made a perfect circle, while matching the two's personalities quite well. Whilst Lightbulb had a lot of energy, and was almost constantly optimistic, Paintbrush had more of a realistic attitude, and ran on coffee they technically weren't allowed to bring to their classes.
'Cause from up here, the sky is my thoughts, and we're all so small.'
Test Tube spent more time thinking of a few questions she'd had about herself. Her... identity. She'd be confident that she was a woman - she'd known it would stay that way. But, in an odd way, she felt as if... 'he' didn't feel wrong on her. She'd ask Lightbulb or Paintbrush about it later, if she even remembered.
'We're all so...'
Lightbulb was focused on what she'd included in Test Tube's gift. She'd filled it with bracelets - some matching - rings, earrings, and a notebook - Test Tube had a slight interest in poetry. She even found the money to buy her a small calculator for her calculus class, as her old one was broken, a hand-me-down from three siblings and three more to come.
Her older siblings were long moved out, and the youngest had been in sixth. Test Tube had a huge family - two dads, four sisters, and two brothers. She found herself at home on free days she wanted to hang out with friends taking care of her younger siblings that could've very well taken care of themselves. The only free time she managed to find for herself wasn't enough to hang out with any friends, so she ended up studying in her free time.
With all her time being taken out of her day to either sleep, watch over her siblings, study, or do homework, she'd been too busy to remember the day was her own birthday. She went about her morning as usual. She'd never wore anything much nicer than her normal outfits, although a gut feeling told her to wear a pair of blue earrings she'd gotten from her grandmother for her birthday the previous year. Just as she was about to head off to school, as she usually did, she'd gotten a text from Fan.
Faniel: Hbd!! :3c
Test Tube: ??
Faniel: Happy birthday!! Hope it's super awesome for the awesomest person out there! X3c
