If one word were to describe Nicholas, that would be music.
Every day, Nicholas would board the train, settle into his seat by the window, and as always, immerse himself in the enchanting melodies and lyrics that flowed through his earphones.
The world around him was always a blur. An introverted soul like his found peace within his own thoughts and when his fingers were intertwined with the strings of his old, crusty acoustic guitar.
Nicholas spent countless hours perfecting his craft, tirelessly learning new chords, scales, and techniques.
After all, his skills had earned him his job.
And that was a guitar teacher at the local conservatory. When his train would arrive at its destination, he would stroll down the lively streets, entering "Brown Aroma", his favorite coffee spot.
Pushing open the creaky wooden door that day, Nicholas was met with the delightful scent of freshly brewed coffee and the comforting melodies of soft jazz music.
His order was the same as always. A black coffee to go was placed in front of him at eight and five sharp.
With his order in his hand and his guitar case secured around his shoulder, he would head down a very familiar road that would lead to his morning shift.
But that day, he changed his plans. He decided to stay. The café was almost empty. Only two tables were occupied. One with a young man consumed by the computer before him, eagerly typing.
And another, with a woman settled into a plush armchair by the window. He could say that he was familiar with her. She seemed to always be there when he stopped by.
His attention was piqued by the enigmatic yet comforting aura emanating from her. He could not help but notice that she seemed lost in her own world. Her gaze was fixed on her almost untouched coffee and a brown, worn-out journal laying on her table.
He settled on a nearby table, placing his coffee and his guitar down. Suddenly, startled by his proximity, the woman's eyes snapped to his.
Deep brown. That's the color he lost himself in. Her luscious brown hair was falling down her back in perfect waves, perfectly complimenting her chocolate brown eyes.
Then, her ringtone blended with the soft music of the background, she averted her gaze from his, looking through the pockets of her coat.
Moments later, she stormed outside in the cold morning with her phone still in her ear.
