"If he held out his bloodied hand to you would you take it?"
My first class breezed by.
I don't think I was even listening for over half of the time.
My brain felt as if it was mush.
Nothing was absorbed from the lessons.I hope all my classes today will go like that.
No one starred at me, no one gawked. There was no crushing sense of embarrassment.
No one even greeted me except for the teacher. As it should be.
I was like a ghost, and it felt nice.
Floating calmly for the rest of my life doesn't sound bad.I'm glad I didn't get put into the AP class.
History is not one of my finer subjects.
Who killed who?
I don't know, don't ask me.I slowly walk through the hall heading to my next class.
Usually passing periods are about 5 minutes. This place you have a full 15. If that isn't rich privilege then I don't know what is.My walking pace calm instead of normally rushed and frantic.
Everyone else was zooming in their own bubbles.
Chatter, laughter and noise buzzed throughout the long hall.
No thoughts behind their eyes.
Oh to be that blissful.I put in my air pods to drown out the noise of teenage happiness.
Counting my small strides. I held my hands properly in front of me as my father insisted I did.
The etiquette classes I used to take were traumatizing.
My old teacher mrs.Van would smack my arm with a ruler every time I dropped my posture. Or even misplaced my hands.
If I dared to reach my hand out too rudely I would get scolded. Father made sure everyone knew I was a polite and mannered girl.
24, 25, 26...
I count tapping my finger to the beat of the music.
A polite, and mannered girl can have good taste in music.
I'm almost to my biology class when I feel a tap on my shoulder.
The abrupt contact making me jump.I turn placing my hand above my heart. I look up as I take an airpod out and see Malcom.
He stares at me with a smile on his face.
Startling me must be funny to him.Unlike he can. There's no way I could sense him coming up to me.
What does he want?
If its directions, I am the wrong person to ask."Malcom? What is it. Do you need something?"
He corrects me.
"It's left."
I roll my eyes.
"Okay left what do you need?"
I ask staring back. His eyes searching for the eye contact I was trying to avoid.
He cleared his throat.
Before waiting a second. Drawing out whatever it was he needed to say."Uhhhhh yeah... Yep. Oh! Kai's looking for you. He said he tried to call you."
I roll my eyes.
Of course, he sent his goons out to do his bidding.I ignored the call for a reason. Maybe it was a hint Kai just didn't take.
He pulls his phone out.
Typing away without a thought in the world.
Taking up my passing period time for absolutely nothing.
