INT. TARHUN HOUSE - DINING ROOM - MORNING
The breakfast table is set, and everyone is quietly enjoying their meal. A sense of calm hangs in the air until Hikmet decides to break the silence.
HIKMET
(softly)
Emir, I've been thinking. Perhaps you need someone in your life who can bring the happiness that you've been missing all these years.Reyhan's gaze subtly fixates on Emir, her expression unreadable.
Emir's demeanor tenses at Hikmet's words, his grip on his utensils tightening. He takes a deep breath, trying to maintain his composure.
EMIR
(defensive)
Baba, I've told you this many times before. Nihan was my first and last love. I can't imagine myself with anyone else. If you ever force me to marry someone, I won't be able to love her. So, please, baba, don't bring up this topic again.Hikmet's gaze remains gentle, understanding the depth of Emir's emotions. Reyhan, however, looks down at her plate, her thoughts seemingly elsewhere.
A heavy silence lingers in the dining room after Emir's firm declaration about his love for Nihan and his reluctance to consider marriage again. Reyhan's presence adds an unspoken tension to the room.
LEYLA
(trying to diffuse the tension)
Emir, we're not pressuring you into anything. We just want your happiness.Emir appreciates his mother's words but remains firm in his stance.
EMIR
(resolute)
I know, Mom. But my happiness died with Nihan.Hikmet, looking concerned for his son, decides to change the subject.
HIKMET
(trying to lighten the mood)
Alright, let's not dwell on this topic for now. We have a lot to do today. Reyhan, how about you accompany Emir to the office again? Your assistance has been quite helpful.Reyhan nods, her response is polite.
REYHAN
(supportive)
Of course, Uncle Hikmet. I'd be happy to help.Emir glances at Reyhan, a mixture of emotions in his eyes.
INT. TARHUN HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - MORNING
Emir stands up from the dining table, indicating that he's about to leave for the office. Just as he's preparing to head out, Hikmet interjects.
HIKMET
(casual)
Emir, why don't you take Reyhan with you to the office today?Emir's irritation is palpable, and he shoots a mildly annoyed expression at his father.
EMIR
(irritated)
Baba, why?Hikmet, however, remains resolute in his suggestion.
HIKMET
(logical)
Well, they both have the same destination, so why not?Emir reluctantly agrees, albeit with some reluctance.
EMIR
(sighs)
Fine. Reyhan, I'll be waiting outside.CUT TO:
EXT. TARHUN HOUSE - DRIVEWAY - MORNING
Emir is waiting beside the car as Reyhan arrives and takes her seat in the passenger side. Emir instructs the driver to start the journey.
EMIR
(to the driver)
Let's go.As they drive to the office, Reyhan begins organizing some papers. Inadvertently, one of the papers slips from her grasp and falls to the floor of the car. Emir, at the same moment, leans down to retrieve the fallen paper, his hand reaching for it just as Reyhan does the same.
Their hands briefly touch as they both try to grab the paper simultaneously. Emir quickly withdraws his hand, a sense of awkwardness in the air. Reyhan manages to pick up the paper, and they continue their journey in silence.
The subtle moment of contact leaves both of them with a lingering, unspoken tension.
