INT. EMIR AND REYHAN'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
The room is dimly lit, and there's an uncomfortable silence in the air. Emir sits on the couch, his back turned towards Reyhan, who's on the bed.
Reyhan tries to break the silence, her voice hesitant.
REYHAN
Emir, we need to talk about what happened today.
Emir, without turning to look at her, cuts her off coldly.
EMIR
(Interrupting)
I'm tired, Reyhan. I need to sleep.
Reyhan's hurt by Emir's dismissive tone. She lies there in silence, her heart heavy with unresolved issues, as Emir closes his eyes, trying to block out the tension in the room.
CUT TO
INT. TARHUN FAMILY DINING ROOM - MORNING
The dining room is filled with the aroma of breakfast. Elif, Leyla, and Emir are seated at the table, while Reyhan serves them.
REYHAN
(To Emir)
Emir, do you want anything else?
Emir remains distant, his gaze fixed somewhere else.
EMIR
(Coldly)
No, nothing.
Reyhan notices Emir trying to reach for the salad bowl and quickly passes it to him. But Emir doesn't take it and abruptly stands up from the table.
EMIR
I'm full.
Elif looks up, her eyes filled with excitement.
ELIF
Baba, today is Parents' Day at my school. Will you come?
Emir kneels down to Elif, forcing a smile.
EMIR
Of course, my dear.
Elif looks at both Reyhan and Emir with innocent eyes.
ELIF
(Excited)
Mama and baba, please come together. I want to show everybody that my mama and baba are a lovely couple.
Emir, uncomfortable with the request, distances himself and replies tersely.
EMIR
I'm getting late.
Emir quickly exits the room, leaving a somber atmosphere behind. Elif's joyful request hangs in the air, unanswered.
CUT TO
INT. ELIF'S SCHOOL - PARENTS' DAY - DAY
The school's courtyard is filled with parents, teachers, and students. Elif's classmates are performing various activities for their parents. Elif is on stage, smiling widely, performing a small skit.
In the audience, Kerem and Reyhan are sitting together, cheering for Elif. They exchange glances, sharing the joy of seeing Elif's performance.
Emir arrives, standing at a distance, unnoticed by Reyhan and Kerem. He watches as they share a moment of happiness, completely unaware of his presence.
EMIR
(Internal monologue)
She didn't even realize... She replaced me in those years with someone else. All she needed me for was Elif's treatment. I'm nothing more to her now.
Hurt and feeling like an outsider in his own daughter's life, Emir turns and quietly leaves the school, without Elif even knowing he was there.
CUT TO
INT. ELIF'S SCHOOL - COURTYARD - CONTINUOUS
Elif comes running to Reyhan and Kerem, her face glowing with excitement.
ELIF
(Excited)
Mama, Kerem Bey, did you see that? I performed just like you said, Mama!
Reyhan and Kerem both smile warmly at Elif's enthusiasm.
REYHAN
(Grinning)
You really did, sweetheart. You were fantastic!
KEREM
(Chuckling)
And we're so proud of you, Elif. But... there's one little thing.
Elif looks puzzled.
ELIF
What is it?
KEREM
(Playfully)
Reyhan already told me that you left your sneakers at home today and brought them on time.
Elif giggles.
ELIF
Oh, I forgot them. Silly me!
Elif's smile fades as she asks about her father.
ELIF
Where's baba? Why hasn't he come yet?
Reyhan exchanges a glance with Kerem, trying to find the right words.
REYHAN
(Putting on a reassuring tone)
Well, sweetheart, you know how busy your baba is with work sometimes. He must be stuck in a meeting. But don't worry; he'll try his best to make it. Okay?
Elif nods, still eager to see her father.
ELIF
Alright, Mama. I hope he comes soon.
Reyhan and Kerem exchange another worried glance, knowing that Emir's absence is causing Elif disappointment.
Kerem smiles at Elif's innocence and Reyhan's quick thinking, silently supporting her.
KEREM
(Supportive)
Your mama is right, Elif. Baba will be here soon. In the meantime, let's celebrate your wonderful performance!
Elif's face brightens up, and they continue to enjoy the event, trying to make the day as special as possible for her, despite the absence of Emir.
