South Korea is known for seasoned drinkers. Drinking alcohol is taken sincerely in Korea. There are certain practices that should be followed.

And here are the some examples of those practices:

>When offered a drink during the first round, one must accept it as a sign of good manners. Refusing this offer is seen as being disrespectful.

>When an elder presents someone with a drink, that person has to stand up, bow and take the drink with both hands.

>Before taking a sip, he has to wait for the elder to raise his glass. The older person or someone higher in rank is offered alcohol first.

And also, they told me that they really liked drinking after office hours along with their co-workers. And... it's really hard to refuse, or must I say that, they are not allowed to refuse. So whether they like it or not, they should join the drinking session that usually last until wee hours in the morning. So "pakikisama" is really important for them.. tsss

When it comes to their alcoholic drink, they have some Korean traditional alcoholic drinks. The most famous one is the SOJU. I think some us are familiar with that drink right? It is a clear, slightly sweet distilled spirit. It is made from grain or sweet potatoes and is generally inexpensive. It typically has an alcohol content of 40 proof (20% alc. by volume).

And based from my personal experience, the taste of Soju is really really bitter! Gosh.... I can't even take it all. And the effect was kinda... hot inside the stomach. grrr... I didn't tried it again! haha!

But now a days, most Koreans doesn't like Soju.. Because they have another traditional drink that is much better than Soju... And they call it Makgeolli, it is milky, sweet alcoholic beverage made from rice... Majority of them likes the taste of this drink.. Because they said that it taste much sweeter and the alcohol content is just low compare to Soju.. Though I haven't tried this before... But I hope I can a have chance... someday?? haha

So that's it folks!!

Sorry, napa English akow ng onte.. hehe

thanks sa mga readers!!
