NIMAH AHMED"Yeah Mom I'm fine, yes I have eaten." I sighed at my Mom's constant fussing over me as I spoke to her over the phone.
"Make sure you keep in touch with your mother-in-law, She had called me this morning asking for you but I changed the topic." She said as I just sighed in response.
"I'll speak with her, Take care, Mom, I'll speak with you later, Assalamu alaikum." I massaged my temple as I slid my phone into my coat pocket and glanced out the window.
Sure enough today as well I saw a sleek black car right in front of my window and a minute later I saw Kabir Malik step out with a bouquet in his hand and the same nurse who had been delivering the same flowers took it from him and walked in, probably on her way to my cabin.
I just glared at him and I guess he could feel it as the next moment he glanced up and removed his sunglasses as he stared right back at me, the way he was staring at me arose a weird tingling sensation in me causing me to spin back and shake off his effect as I walked over to my table to collect the files which were to be delivered to Keira. My phone rang for a minute in my pocket and just as expected it was Kabir calling to apologize to him but I ignored it making sure to put a full stop to his attempts when my work was done.
I heard a knock on the door and knew who exactly it was,
"Come in," I called out and the door opened to reveal the nurse, I just motioned her to keep the bouquet in the trash which had the same fate as the ones preceding it.I walked over to Keira's cabin and knocked as I waited for her to open but the voice I heard next was not hers rather a rough deep male voice, the kind of rough that could be observed in a chain smoker's voice.
I juggled my phone under the files as I walked in and saw Keira sitting behind her desk and a group of men resting in the opposite corner none of which seemed like a patient rather they looked like they could bring in more patients, with scars marring their face and predatory excitement in their gaze.
The person in the middle though seemed the leader with rings more than the population of Asia on his fingers and beady eyes which seemed to scan me as though he would find out my whole existence just by roaming his eyes all over me.
"Keep the files and leave." I heard a clipped voice and sneaked a glimpse at Keira who spared me a glance before returning her cold gaze over the leader.
A slow smile came over the leader's face as he observed our little exchange,
"Now now, we don't have to be so uptight, loosen yourself, Keira.""It's Dr. Keira to you, Do not forget your limits while speaking to me." Keira snapped as she gave him her famous glacial stare but the smile on his face kept on widening as if he liked being spoken back to.
Disgusting.
"Leave, Doctor," Keira told me again staring at me to make her point but I was hesitant to leave her, especially with these shitty hoodlums who seemed as good as a rotten pile of everything.
"Eyes on me when you speak, Darling," The leader spoke a twitch in his jaw from the lack of attention he was receiving.
Keira smiled sardonically as she said,
"What will you do if I don't?- she leaned forward as she stared into his eyes deeply- Nothing, 'cause that's what you are capable of."The smile on the leader's face wavered for a second as he fisted his hand and motioned one of his men over to me with his darkened angry eyes.
"One more step towards her and you'll never know what hit you," Keira spoke cooly as the man stopped in his tracks and glanced at his leader hesitatingly.
