Kyle got to school early, hoping no one would be there at that time. He went straight to the library to study.

Feeling a tap on his shoulder, Kyle's heart skipped a beat. Startled, he turned around to see Cartman, wearing his signature smug grin.

"Gah! Shit dude!" Kyle exclaimed.

Cartman chuckled.

"What do you want, Cartman"

"I wanna talk about Stan"

"What about him" Kyle was starting to get angrier

"Dude, you've gotta sort things out with him,"

"Why"

"Cus, that fight you guys had completely destroyed your guys' friendship. I can't even remember the last time I saw you guys talk without fighting!"

Kyle sighed. "Ok, fine."

Cartman's smug expression disappeared into a look of delight and surprise as Kyle continued, "But don't expect me to just start talking to Stan again. It was really shitty of me to try and pretend nothing happened."

"I swear to God Kyle, if you don't start talking to Stan I'll kill you."

"Jeez whatever, fatass"

Before Stan drove out of the school parking lot, Kyle caught up with him.

"Stan, please, hear me out for a minute" Kyle tried to plead, but Stan only looked at him skeptically before rolling his eyes.

"If I listen will you leave me alone? I'm not interested in anything you have to say" Stan said with finality as he started the engine of his truck. He didn't want to waste any more time trying to reason with Kyle.

"Fine.I seriously wanna go back to how things were when we were younger before everything blew up between us. And it doesn't have to be like that anymore. We can still hang out in a group and stuff..." Kyle said quietly, his voice wavering slightly. His stomach twisted with guilt. This is why he hated confrontation. When he tried to fix something, people didn't want to listen. They never seemed interested enough to actually hear what he was trying to say. Kyle felt pathetic.

"It's just...I miss you. I miss talking to you, about everything. I missed you, man". Kyle said softly, looking down at the ground. "And you're gonna think I sound crazy, but I thought I might see if I could talk you into going out or something. You know, just like old times"

That caught Stan off guard. He blinked, surprised before he said "What?"

"Just...just think about it okay? I promise I won't ask you to do anything you don't want." Kyle said, feeling his eyes sting slightly.

"Okay"

"Huh?"

Kyle's head snapped up, staring wide-eyed at Stan. He thought he'd misheard him. Stan had agreed, he sounded like he wanted to see Kyle again too. The knot in his chest loosened just the tiniest bit.

"I said okay, Kyle"Stan repeated "I'll go with you, only to make you happy. Don't expect me to enjoy it though"

Kyle laughed lightly, and Stan smiled. Stan had changed his personality towards Kyle drastically but that was because he cared so much. He loved Kyle, more than Kyle had ever imagined someone loving another person. He knew they could become friends again. That's why Stan eventually gave up his "idrc bad boy" act. He needed Kyle in his life. He knew deep down Kyle needed him, too.

And maybe he could learn to love Kyle in return. Just by being friends with Kyle again.
