One and a half years later

Being a parent to an overactive infant has been stressful, to say the least.
Since the day we found Kai in that car, he has been keeping not only Dwayne and I on our toes, but the rest of the boys as well.
The issues started once he started crawling, and then a few months ago when he learned how to walk.
Since he's been mobile he has gotten into anything and everything and on several occasions crawled or walked his way out of Dwayne and I's room and into the center of the cave to play while we sleep, causing not only me and Dwayne to panic, but the rest of the boys as we searched the darkness for our missing son.
He has a habit of gravitating to the bed left in the main cave and falling asleep there with his toys surrounding him, leaving us in a disarray of panic only to find him sound asleep in the bed with colorful curtains and decorations surrounding the queen-sized bed left there.
Despite those issues, Kai has been an amazing little boy.
He's very curious and for only being around a year and a half is very smart and picks up things quicker than I'd expect a toddler to.
We have nothing to compare him to as we've strictly kept him away from other children and reserved his interactions with other humans minimal because he has a habit of hissing at other people and muttering 'vampire' all the time.
We have been nothing short of ourselves around him but have kept our feeding habits private as to not scare him or make him scared of us, even though he is comfortable with our vampire faces and abilities.
More than half of the time, when Dwayne and I leave our son with the three boys, we return to find him held in either Marko's or Paul's arms as they fly above the ground with Kai a giggling mess as they fly around the cave.
I have yelled at the boys more than enough times, warning them that he is only still a baby and that they need to be careful with him but they normally brush me off and continue to roughhouse with him.
My motherly instincts growing worse as each day passes because the more mobile he becomes the more he gets hurt, even for him being a year and a half he thinks he can keep up with his uncles who more times than not mess around and fight in front of him and he thinks he can join in when they're not paying attention.
"Mama." The little voice of my son spoke as he poked my cheek with his little finger. He'd somehow managed to crawl his way onto the bed and was sitting beside me with messy black hair and a gleaming look in his eye.
"Yes, baby?" I ask him, fully waking up now that he was poking me.
"Out." He simply said, motioning to the door that we'd barricaded with the dresser in our room to prevent him from leaving the room to go play in the center of the cave and falling asleep out there alone.
"Wake up Daddy then." I say, grabbing him by the sides and lifting him over me to set him beside Dwayne who was still fast asleep.
"Daddy!" He exclaimed happily as he throws himself on top of Dwayne's stomach, making him jolt with a grunt at the force of Kai's small body making direct contact with his stomach.
