19. Bully

Once Severus picked them up from westeros and they settled back into the rhythm of Hogwarts again the next few moons seemed to go by in a flash, between QUidditch games and studying they didnt have much time to think about home and missing their father. 

Vaera didnt want to worry about Fluffy or Nicholas Flammel she wanted to focus on her work, she wasnt picking up potions as good as Davina was and needed to practice more. 

"Look at you playing with your cards." Hermione remarked as Ron looked at his chocolate frog cards. "Pathetic! We've got final exams coming up soon." Hermoine tsked.

"I'm ready! Ask me any question." Ron countered.

"All right, what are the three most crucial ingredients in a Forgetfulness Potion?" Hermoine quizzed. Ron hesitated.

"...I forgot." Ron answered. Vaera chuckled sitting beside Harry. 

"The ingredients in a Forgetfulness Potion are Lethe River water, mistletoe berries, and valerian sprigs." Vaera answered. 

"I knew that." Ron grumbled. 

"And what, may I ask, do you plan to do if this comes up in the final exam?" Hermoine pondered.

"Copy off you?" Ron offered.

"No, you won't!" Hermoine declared. 

"He couldnt if he tried to." Vaera corrected.  "According to Professor McGonagall, we're to be given special quills bewitched with an anti-cheating spell." Vaera informed them. 

"That's insulting! It's as if they don't trust us!" Ron declared, Neville Longbottom came hopping into the Great Hall with his legs stuck together as the other students laugh at him.

"Leg-Locker Curse?" Ron pondered.

"Malfoy." Harry realized. Neville approaches them amidst laughter from the other students

"You have got to start standing up to people, Neville." Ron decided. Neville was wobbling uncontrollably.

"How? I can barely stand at all!" Neville countered. Seamus jumped up, wand at the ready.

" I'll do the counter-curse!" Seamus decided.

"No, that's all I need... you to set my bloody kneecaps on fire!" Neville muttered. Seamus slammed his wand down. Vaera jumped up and Harry reached for her hand. 

"I don't appreciate the insinuation, Longbottom. Besides, if anyone cares to notice, my eyebrows have completely grown back!" Seamus reminded them all .

"I can do it." Vaera offered raising her wand. "Unless you dont trust me?" 

"I... I trust you Vaera." Neville agreed as Seamus sulked off.

" Go on."

"-for his discovery of the 12 uses of Dragon Blood, and his work on alchemy with his partner Nicolas Flamel!'' Ron declared.

"I knew the name sounded familiar. I read it on the train that day." harry realized. 

"Follow me!" Hermoine declared getting up and they ran out.

"Hey, wait, where are you going? What about the counter-curse?!" Neville questioned. 

"Sorry Neville." Vaera remarked lifting her wand, she glanced back at the door wanting to join them but knowing Neville needed her more. She did the counter curse as Davina came up munching on some chips. 

"Good job Vee, what did you do Neville?" davina questioned. 

"Malfoy." Neville murmured shaking out his legs. "Thanks Vaera, you are a lifesaver." 

"Draco did that to you?" 

"Yeah. I'm okay." Neville assured. 

"That cunt." Davina hissed marching off. 

"Whats she going to do?" Neville questioned nervously. 

"Draco!" Davina demanded. "You want to pick on someone?" 

"Davina-" Draco purred. 

''Leave Vaeras friends alone. I dont know what is wrong with your life that you have to bully others," Davina demanded. "But no one likes a bully!" Severus stared back at them. "I dont care if they are gyffindor, or fucking hufflepuff. You dont go picking on someone just because you can." 

"I'm sorry, Dav, I didnt know you cared about him." Draco offered. 

"I dont know him." Davina countered. "Just because he's an easy target doesnt give you the right. You know what happens to bullies?"  Draco looked to his feet. "They end up in Azkaban." Draco's eyes snapped up to her. "

"We know about the Philosopher's Stone!"

"We think Snape's trying to steal it." Harry added

"Snape? Blimey, Harry, you're not still on about him, are you?" Hagrid hissed.

"Hagrid, we know he's after the Stone. We just don't know why." Harry begged. 

"Snape is one of the teachers protecting the Stone! He's not about to steal it!' hagrid corrected.

"What?"

"You heard. Right. Come on, now, I'm a bit preoccupied today." Hagrid reminded them.

"Wait a minute." Harry begged, Ron soon saw Hagrid's boar-hound Fang, who sniffs him. "One of the teachers?"

" Of course! There are other things defending the Stone, aren't there? Spells, enchantments." hermoine agreed.

"That's right. Waste of bloody time, if you ask me." Hagrid agreed. "Ain't no one gonna get past Fluffy. Hehe, not a soul knows how. Except for me and Dumbledore. I shouldn't have told you that. I shouldn't have told you that."

"You guys went without me?" Vaera whined. 

"Sorry vaera." harry agreed. "Did you fix Neville?" 

"Yeah, Davina really gave it to Draco too." Vaera added. 

"Man, I would have liked to see that." Ron remarked. 

"Ms. Davina?" She turned around, smiling as Severus approached. "Your discussion with Mr. Malfoy today-"

"Dont tell me you are mad at me?" Davina demanded. "He put a curse that my sister had to reverse on that squirely little Gryffindor, Neville. He's a bully, he's lucky I didnt punch him." Severus chuckled. 

"You are not in trouble. I just wanted to say I'm proud you stood up for the little guy." Severus answered. 

"Oh... thanks." Davina answered. "I'm really not in trouble?"

"WHy would you be in trouble for doing the right thing?''
