Rome was nervous when he stepped inside the massive building. He scanned the lobby with animals and their owners waiting for their appointments before walking to the reception desk. He didn't recognise the girl standing behind it. He clutched the handle of the lunch bag a little tighter.

"Hello, how can I help you?" The receptionist asked. Composing himself, Rome smiled at her.

"I am here to see Doctor Pakorn Sirinachot." The girl scanned him from head to toe.

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No, but ..."

"You need to have an appointment before coming here." She snorted, taking Rome by surprise with her attitude. He was about to argue with her when a familiar voice called his name.

"N'Rome, you are already here?"

"Hello, P'Nueng." Rome smiled at the tall veterinarian.

"I was just announcing my arrival to the receptionist." He glanced at the frowning girl.

"You know, you don't have to do it." Nueng waved it off. He put his arm around his shoulder, leading him further inside the building. Rome glanced at the angry girl briefly, feeling a bit satisfied.

"Pick is checking a teacup Maltese puppies that were born yesterday," Nueng explained.

"You know what? I think you can take a peak." He grinned.

"Really? Can I? Won't  P'Pick be mad?" The offer sounded tempting, but Rome didn't want to disturb his boyfriend's work.

"Nonsense." Nueng led Rome towards the examination room. He swiftly looked through the small window before pushing startled Rome inside.

"Pick you have a guest," Nueng announced. He winked at Rome and disappeared, leaving him alone in the room.

"Rome?" Pick's figure appeared from behind the corner.

"Hi, P'Pick." Rome waved awkwardly.

"P'Nueng pushed me inside. I told him it was a bad idea." He tried to explain when he caught Pick's frowning face. The taller male marched towards him and Rome only hoped Pick wouldn't kick him out.

"Come with me." Pick grabbed his hand, leading him inside the room. They stopped in front of an open cage. Rome's eyes went wide seeing the cute little puppies.

"They are so tiny," Rome exclaimed.

"They were born yesterday." Pick explained.

"And they look like you." Pick added.

"Like me?" Rome pouted.

"Adorable." Pick pinched Rome's flushed cheek, smiling.

"Did you bring a lunch? I am hungry."

Rome nodded, a little dizzy from the sudden affection. Pick's tenderness wasn't rare, yet Rome felt overwhelmed when his boyfriend got all sweet. He wonders if he ever get used to it.
