It was now the morning, but everyone was trying to keep the Sky People away. Maybell and Spider had wanted to help, but Jake was insistent on them going back to camp where they would be safe. So they listened, knowing they had no choice.
"Jake's crazy, thinking we can just sit back and watch this happen." Maybell said, pacing around the base. She felt so anxious and worried.
"May, there's nothing we can do." Spider sighed.
"We could help, Spider! We can't just let this happen!"
"I know, Webs. But Jake's not going to let us. He's just worried about us."
"It's just not fair." Maybell grumbled, fidgeting with her rings she wore as she paced.
"I know. Trust me, I know."
"I wish we could help."
"I do too, May. I do too." Spider agreed, watching her pace. He was worried about her. He hated seeing her this way. He didn't like her stressed out or scared. He wanted to help her, but there wasn't much he could do.
"Webs, come here." Spider opened his arms, thinking a hug might calm her down. Maybell finally pauses when he said that and she looks at him. She walked over and hugged him, needing his comfort. He wrapped his arms around her, holding her close. He kisses her head.
"I love you, May."
"I love you too, Spider."
While they're best friends, they always say this to each other. It was strictly platonic though. They just loved each other and wanted the other to know that. They didn't feel romantically towards each other. At least....Not yet.
The two were hugging for a few minutes before they heard Tuk's voice calling out to them.
"Guys! They're back! Come on, come on!" Tuk excitedly said.
The two best friends pulled away from each other with a smile and they followed Tuk to where the ikrans were always landed on one of the cliffs in the camp. Kiri followed them along the way after seeing where they were going. Maybell gasped at noticing it seemed like Neteyam is hurt. Jake had helped his son off the ikran. Neteyam seemed fine enough to walk which made Maybell feel relieved.
"Mom!" Tuk shouted, running over to Neytiri. Neytiri looked relieved at seeing her and hugged her.
"Nete," Maybell said worriedly, going over to her older cousin and hugging him. "Are you okay?" While she was close with each of her cousins, she was especially close with Neteyam. He was more like an older brother to her than a cousin.
"I'm fine, Webs." Neteyam smiled softly, wrapping his arms around her to hug her back.
Tessa, who was Trudy Chacon's younger sister, quickly joined the group after getting notified they were back. And after hearing her best friend, Neteyam, got hurt she was worried. Trudy Chacon had died in the last battle that had happened when the sky People were on Pandora. Tessa was left behind. Tessa was taken under the Sully's care as well after her sister had died in battle on Pandora. Tessa couldn't breathe the air just like Spider so she also had an oxygen mask on.
"You're alive." Tessa sighed in relief at seeing Neteyam. She didn't know what she would have done if something had happened to him.
"I'm fine, Tess." Neteyam reassured her, his ears perking up a little at seeing her. He had been worried she had gotten hurt, but was glad to see she was okay. After he and Maybell pulled away, he and Tessa hugged, holding each other close. Tessa was tall enough where her head laid on his chest and he rested his chin on her head like he usually does when they hug.
