(I hate beginnings. I'm terrible at them. I'm also trying to play on Dedue's reluctance to let himself have nice things or let people be close to him. So if any part of this makes you cringe. I apologize. I'm trying to get a good grip on personalities still. It'll get better I promise. 😅 )

Faster than the blink of an eye another school year began and ended. Dedue and Kiera were now seventeen, and Dedue had made a decision, he'd accepted Dimitri's proposed arranged marriage to Kiera.

"I was waiting for an answer. Kiera agreed to the arrangement a while ago. Quite eagerly I might add. I'll call her home so that we can get the ceremony done. I'll handle the paperwork." Dimitri said

"So quickly?" Dedue asked, stunned.

"We have a short window before she returns to school for her final year and can no longer make such a long journey. By this time next year we'll be in the officer's academy and won't be able to pull it off. We can't risk her family finding out she's here so she'll only be able to stay for a short time once the marriage has been established for a year they can't annul it or contest the elopement. She'd be safe." Dimitri replied

Dedue sighed "very well."

"Do you want to do it?" Dimitri asked

"As you said previously. I had no intention of ever taking a wife. If this is a service I can do to help you keep your sorceress close then it is what I shall do. I do enjoy her letters and the seeds she sends. so I believe it will not be a bad match. However, your safety is still my priority."

"Dedue." Dimitri sighed "Very well. I shall begin arrangements and summon Kiera home."

Nearly a week later, Dimitri and Dedue were out at one of the Royal hunting lodges under the guise of a hunting trip. Kiera arrived close to sunset, flying on a creature that looked like a Griffin but it's back half was that of a horse instead of a lion.

The prince and his retainer rushed out to greet her but halted when they noticed that her mount was a Hippogriff. Such creatures did not exist in this world but they had heard enough from Kiera's letters to know to not approach them.

A bright light engulfed the creature and suddenly Kiera was standing there snapping a leather bag shut.

"There there. All nice and cozy, Caligo. You deserve a rest." She patted the bag.

"Kiera!" Dimitri exclaimed as he quickly walked over to hug his best friend.

"Dimitri!" Kiera hugged him back. "So when is it?"

"Tomorrow. Then you'll be safe from Bathory and can come home." He let go of her and stepped back.

"After I finish my last year at Hogwarts. I have to finish what I started don't I?" Kiera insisted

"Of course." Dimitri nodded "Come inside. Dinner should be ready."

"In a moment." She glanced at Dedue who was waiting patiently to speak with her. "I have to talk with my soon to be husband."

Dimitri looked at Dedue and nodded in understanding. "Of course. I'll meet you both inside."

After Dimitri was gone Kiera approached Dedue.

"Hello, it is good to see you after all this time. We've both changed so much. Truth be told I am surprised but glad that you agreed to Dimitri's idea that we... you know." She smiled softly at him.

"It is abrupt. Are you certain that this is what you wish?" He replied

His voice made an unseen shudder run down her spine. "You are very much wanted, Dedue. Tomorrow we are to be married... is there anything you wish to know about me that I may have left out of my letters?" Kiera asked
