Chapter 2-The 0rdinary

    Zero landed with an echoing thud on the balcony. That made everyone in the computer room jump.

    “God, Zero! Couldn't you just use the front door instead of just sneaking around?!” Lilith snapped, clearly angered at his entrance.

    Zero shrugged, and ignored her as he went inside. There, he stood beside Maya, who ignored his presence. Though he saw Axton beside her, his arm around her. His hopes sank just slightly, but he urged himself to be focused. She is here for work./She is not here to be yours./I need to focus! Zero told himself mentally, though he was irritated.

     “Since we defeated Jack, I want us all to listen to this. It's an ECHO he sent us before we went to stop him.” Lilith advised, playing the ECHO.

     “Hey there, Vault Hunters. This is Handsome Jack here. So, I wanted to ask you to do me a little favor. Can you check up on my grandmother in Eridium Blight? I mean, I've been so completely busy that I haven't got the time to. If you do, I want you to know that this isn't a trap. She needs help. And if you don't, then still, I want you to know this really isn't a trap. And if you do go to check on her for me, can you get some flowers for her? Thanks, Vault Hunter. You've really made my day.

     -From, Handsome Jack.”

     All of the Vault Hunters remained silent.

    “Well, I still consider it a trap. I mean, this is Handsome Jack sending us this ECHO! Wouldn't this have been a trap to kill us before we went off to kill him?!” Gaige piped up, breaking the silence.

      “I see what you mean, Gaige. Maybe we should ignore it.” Lilith agreed.

      Zero shook his head, and asked, “Is this considered a challenge?"

     Everyone looked at him, their eyes awestruck, but their faces expressionless. They still couldn't believe that he actually wanted a challenge...again. And from Handsome Jack.

    “Um...Zero, this is Handsome Jack. You are willing to go to Eridium Blight, visit his grandmother's house, and then come back? It's more than likely that he'd kill you before you could make it back without bleeding to death!” Maya snapped.

    Why do I like her?/She has an ability/To melt or kill me., he thought, mentally smiling.

    “Still, it's a challenge./I've been wanting a challenge./I shall go alone.”

    This left the Siren in shock. Well, he's always said, 'Assassins never die!'. So maybe he won't get himself killed, she thought, shrugging.

  “Fine then. We'll wait here for your return. Here's the waypoint, and now, off you go.” Lilith answered, setting the coordinates.

    Then Zero walked over to the balcony, and jumped off, landing on his feet.

     “Man! What a showoff! Doesn't he know that he'll get killed?” Axton asked just after Zero left.

    Maya felt the urge to follow him. To tell him that he was wrong to do this...“challenge.” She pushed Axton's arm off of her neck, and told him, “I'll be fine.” Then she followed the Assassin.

    Both of them had arrived at Eridium Blight from Fast Travel.

    While spawning a vehicle, Zero asked Maya, “Why did you follow?/I could have handled myself./I'm not a weakling.”
