Chapter 9: Who Cares About Photography, Anyway?

{At the cafe, 2:36 PM}

Austyn walked into the cafe searching for Olivia, but still unable to understand how Rogan knew his date was Olivia, he had questions he would have asked if he had time. he smiled as soon as he saw Olivia, who was waving at him from a seat "Heyy~" she said cheerfully as she welcomed him with a warm hug which he returned "Hii, how are you?" he asked. he sat down, noticing two drinks already on the table "Yours is mocha, I hope you still like them..." She said. "I do, thank you very much." He answered, smiling.

"So, how are you? how's things with you, how's your little sister doing?" he asked before taking a sip of his mocha. "Oh she's alright, she's currently attending university in Canada." she answered "Oh! Congrats! Good choice by the way, what's she majoring in?" he asked. "she's studying Bachelor of Science photography... like I did." She said, smiling shyly as she looked at her camera that was sitting on the coffee table. Austyn chuckled, noticing the camera "I see... you're still into photography." he says.

"H-How's Mr. Clifton?" she asked, he looked at her suspiciously, she didn't know him well enough to ask how he was doing. "He's... fine." Austyn answered, barely smiling. she nodded before taking a sip of her latte "What would you like to talk about?" She asked. "I don't know, whatever you like to talk about." he replied, noticing a book on the table. "you read?" He asked. "Ah yes, poetry." She replied. "Nice... what about?" he asked. "Romance... you know me." She replied. he nodded before feeling awkward, he didn't feel the spark at all, especially after what happened in high school, hSonyae was beginning to think he shouldn't have agreed to go on this date.

"Listen Austyn.. um, I'd... like to start over with you... we can forget about the past and focus on the future, I'm willing to give you another chance, to give us another chance." she spoke. Austyn was angry by what she said. Chance? did he ever ask for a chance? what happened in high school happened and of course, he can't forget about it. "I never asked for a chance." Austyn says, sounding cold, sending instant chills down Olivia's spine. "I understand that you want to leave the past behind and start a new beginning but what happened in high school has left me scarred for life, It's an unforgettable event, I can't just act like nothing happened and play nice with you." Austyn explains. 

she nodded, disappointed "I see, you haven't changed." She replied. "just when I thought I saw something in you... I guess I was very wrong." she said before grabbing her belongings and leaving the cafe. Austyn glares at the chair she was sitting on "As if you changed." he says.

Meanwhile Rogan...

He sets his pen down again on his desk for the 7th time, Unable to focus on his work at all, he sighs with frustration "Why the fuck am I feeling so angry for!?" he asks himself before he finally decided to go over to Henrik's office.

{Mr. Anderson's office}

Rogan knocks on the door before entering to see his best friend who is working on the computer "Hennie.." Rogan called. "yes, Rogan." Henrik answered, his eyes shifting from the computer screen to Rogan, who looked frustrated and sad at the same time. "Hey.. are you alright, Budd?" Henrik asked as he walked over to Rogan, bringing him to sit on the couch "What's wrong?" he asked, concerned. "Oooh nothing, I've been feeling angry due to all the work, ya know me." Rogan lied, though he never lied to his best friend, he doesn't want Henrik to get the idea that he's angry because Austyn is on a date, that his rival is on a date. "I thought I'd visit you since you always make me feel better..." Rogan explains. Henrik chuckles as he pats Rogan's back "I got you, Want a drink?" He asked, getting off the couch to go over to the small fridge with what Rogan replied with "Sure"

Grabbing two glasses of whiskey, Henrik sets one down on the coffee table in front of Rogan "You wanna talk about work?" Henrik asked. "No." Rogan replied, taking a sip of his whiskey. Henrik thought deeply as he pushed his left hand into his pocket, taking a sip of his drink as well "... Do you need help with some work? I can help if it's too much for you to handl-" Henrik suggested when Rogan cut him off "Thanks Hennie but..., that's not what I'm mad about." Rogan replied, it was the truth. "could it be because... Austyn is on that date? ... No way, What am I thinking? why would I be angry because of that? he can go on a date, why would I care?" Rogan thought to himself.
