8│ The Leaf

To him everything was a drag, he couldn't believe the Hokage had sent him to this mission as well. 'Was Neji not enough? Shizune wasn't a weak woman and all they had to do was bring some weird medicinal plants.' Three days, he had been running for three days and missed his bed greatly.
"Stop," Neji broke him from his thoughts, "there seem to be men camping in front of the lake, but they are not alone."
"What do you mean?" Shizune was curious.
"They seem to have three, no, four women with them. One is probably dead, and the other one, she is different."
"Define different," Shikamaru finally joined the conversation.
"Her chakra is strong but all over the place," Neji focused more and furrowed his brows.
"They are shinobi then, I say we go around and avoid them," Shikamaru spoke.
"Going around the lake? that will be another three days," Shizune said, "we can't afford that, the plants won't make it."
"She is right, we already lost a day with yesterday's rain," Neji agreed.
"So we avoid them by going around them, then," they all agreed with Shikamaru and took off running again.
Little did they know that the men were already waiting for them. As soon as they were spotted the rogue ninjas attacked the Leaf shinobi. Neji was able to see them coming, so they defended themselves from an attack of needles. They were able to stop a few and others landed on their legs, especially Shikamaru, who immediately felt the paralyzing effects.
"The needles," he said in a hurry, "avoid them they have something."
"My arm," Neji started feeling the numbness too.
"Look what we have here," one of the three men said. Shikamaru started to feel the numbness reach his arms, Neji's left side was completely useless. Shizune was the only one standing, she took five needles of her own and ran towards Shikamaru getting him out of the way. Immediately she made a clone and left it to heal Shikamaru while the real Shizune went to fight alongside Neji. To say that Neji was having a hard time was an understatement. He was getting completely beaten by two of the men. With a lucky hit, he was able to send one of the men flying backward, and then he fell on his knees, unable to move. One more needle had landed on his right leg.
"A fourth man is hiding," he yelled to Shizune, "he is the one with the needles."
Shizune didn't know when it happened but a needle landed on her neck paralyzing her immediately. She was thrown to the ground and one of the men started to rip her clothes. Shikamaru was horrified by what was about to happen, he couldn't move or scream. It was the most helpless he ever felt, all he could do was apologize to Shizune in his mind.
