The sky is dark
The air is still
Without your love
Life has no thrillMy purpose here
Has faded away
Much like my smile
That goes day by dayBut yours persists
Just in my mind
Your joyful soul
Being one of a kindLike your golden locks
That curled around
Your lovely head
So small and roundI saw them as you laughed aloud
To jokes you made so very proud
Lost deeply in your ember eyes
That helped me fight what I despiseWe knew we had to hide our love
Which hurt you so my little dove
I sat with you, through babies lost
And you with me through a marriage tossedBut then you left to flee the state
Not wanting to wait for fate
You left me here, for it's my home
You left with no love, aloneBut know that we have come to peace
The thought of you brings sweet relief
The letter sent, made me feel gay
Made me jump up high and yell hurraySo now I sit on the window sill
With your return
My life has a thrill(Written September 2023)
