Chapter 2 // Meet the Team

It was 3:27 a.m when we returned to our base called Viridia Stronghold. We got out to our chopper and I was ready to report to my superiors of what happened.
Although I'm also a little bit scared of what might they say to me but I'm ready and willing to listen.

We were greeted by our General waiting for us.

"Glad you to be back Gaia, and what the hell happened there?"
He said

"I-I don't know sir... It was an ambush, they caught us off guard but we put up a good fight though..." I said while shaking

Oh and yeah I almost forgot...
I'm socially awkward so whenever I talk to someone I get scared and my body slowly begin to shake.

"All right... All you have to do is to rest and standby for orders. For now, you really need to take a rest." He told me

I really need to take a rest after that intense and horrifying events. But still, I couldn't stop thinking about it like it just doesn't leave inside my head no matter how much I do to forget it, it was just still there.

Does this is a sign that they're haunting me? Because I did do nothing? Or is it just I am to blame for their deaths?

I was walking through the hallway and in deep thinking that I didn't notice that I already passed our dorm two doors away. I walked towards to our dorm and hopefully no one is there. Trust me when I say this but you never wanted to be in there for a couple of reasons. Don't worry I'll get into there and I love being alone so no one could ever disturb me when I am resting.

I opened the door and... Great... I am not alone, just as I guessed especially Fulgur.

"Oh, welcome back Creste! So how's your first mission?" He said

"Miserable." I said

"Well, don't worry you'll get to be used to that. Also-" He said before I'll cutting his reply

"Yeah I know, just leave me alone" I said and glared to him

"Okay." He said and might be trembling of fear after I gave a death stare to him.

I closed the door in my room and put down all of my equipments. It really was a stressful day especially seeing your comrades die in front of you. Pretty cool huh? Of course I'm being sarcastic.

The guy that I was talking about that's Fulgur, Fulgur Servite and his designated name is "Tempest".

The guy I just chatted with to leave me alone. Yeah, that's him and you know what's funny too? He only joined the army just to pay off his university debts, what a nerd. I always teased him about being nerd but he just casually going along with my jokes and laughing at it.

If I'm not wrong he is the one who uses a Tesla gun and with his Tesla coil on his back. The most interesting part is that he was part of the "test" regarding his weapon just like me.

He's just naive and innocent like me but he is ready to be tainted with blood if it meant paying his university debts. Honestly that's just some dedication right there I'm not even kidding.

The only thing I hated about him is just that he is just annoying, always positive and an optimistic one like, what would being an optimistic would do in a middle of the battlefield? Encourage his team to rush the enemies? Telling everything is going to be okay?

Another thing is that he is constantly chatting with me whenever no one is around and you know me, I hate conversations.
I only liked quiet because it really calms my nerves and I think being an introvert is a part too I guess...
