the sun was shining brightly through the windows, casting a warm glow across the room. you, however, were not feeling the warmth. a pounding headache had settled in, turning even the softest sounds into a painful symphony. you were in no shape to do anything, let alone function like a human being.

onceler noticed your discomfort immediately. he had been working on some drawing on his desk, but when he saw you wince and rub your temples, he knew something was wrong.

"hey," he said softly, getting up from his chair and walking over to you. "are you okay?"

you managed to nod, though it felt like a monumental effort. "just a headache," you mumbled, squeezing your eyes shut against the brightness.

"come on," he said gently, extending a hand to you. "let's get you somewhere darker."

with his support, you managed to get to the bedroom, where he drew the curtains closed, plunging the room into soothing darkness. he guided you to lie down, and you did so gratefully, burying your face in the pillow.

"stay right there," he instructed, disappearing momentarily. he returned with a damp cloth that he placed on your forehead, the coolness bringing a small measure of relief.

he sat down beside you, his presence calm and comforting. "i know it's bad," he said softly, "but i'm here with you. just take deep breaths and try to relax."

you focused on his words, his voice becoming an anchor in the sea of pain. he sat there with you for what felt like hours, occasionally adjusting the cloth and making sure you were comfortable.

at some point, he pulled out a book and started reading aloud. it was a children's book, complete with exaggerated character voices and playful narration. you couldn't help but crack a smile, despite the throbbing in your head.

he glanced at you and grinned, clearly pleased with your reaction. "figured a bit of silly storytelling might help distract you from the pain!"

and distract you it did. as the minutes ticked by, your pain slowly began to ebb away.

eventually, he closed the book, his voice softening. "how are you feeling now?"

you took a deep breath and tentatively opened your eyes. the pain had receded to a manageable level. "better," you admitted, offering a small smile.

he reached over and brushed a strand of hair away from your face. "i'm glad i could help. headaches are no joke..."

you nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude for his presence and care. "thank you," you whispered.

he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to your forehead. "anytime, okay?"
