I woke up in a panic Tuesday morning. I had to hurry and get ready for school. I had stayed up late thinking about Jake and how he had come to the movies with me.
I threw on a hoodie and some jeans. I braided my hair and then put on my converse.
About the time I was ready to walk out t he door, I got a text.
Don't forget about your brother's basketball game tonight.
But I had already forgotten. My mom always reminded me about Holdens games but I had forgotten about this one completely. But it's not like I had any other plans.
Ik see u there got to go to school

I had gotten to school late, but who am I kidding I'm always late. I darted into the main hall and towards my locker. That's when I got a glimpse of Jake.
"Hey Leanna" he said as I walked past him.
I kept walking so I wouldn't be late to class. "Hey Jake talk to you later."
I turned the corner and got my books out of my locker.
I practically ran down the hall to my first class. Room 98, world history. I knocked on the door and the teacher, Mr. Smith opened the door. Kill me now.
"Ms Tanner, how nice of you to grace our class with your presence." Uh Mr. Smith is this old man that thinks if you don't get to class on time every single day you're worthless. So obviously he hated me.
"Take your seat next to Mr. Andrews."
Uhhhhh I can't stand Liam Andrews. He thinks he's better than everyone just because his daddy pays the school a bunch of money to "support the ball team".
He turned around to say something to his friends behind us. "Dylan check out the rack on Tanner." Then they all laughed.
I was so embarrassed and I could barely hold back my tears. I am really self conscious about the way I look.
I got up, grabbed my stuff, and left. Mr. Smith was talking to me but I wasn't listening I just kept walking.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I had spent about twenty minutes in the bathroom. Trying to calm myself down. That's when I realized it was my lunch period.
I looked in the mirror and finally looked like I hadn't been crying, even though I had.
I reached the cafeteria and walked in. I had a different lunch schedule than Liam, Dylan, and the rest of their friends.
I walked over to the table I always sit at and put in my AirPods and turned on Spotify. I wasn't hungry, actually I hadn't eaten since yesterday, so I was hungry but I didn't want to eat. I don't know why but sometimes I just lost my appetite.
That's when someone set down across from me. It's kind of hard to miss someone sitting down because I'm the only person who sits at this table. But I knew who it was.
"Hey Leanna." He had this almost sad look in his eyes. I had only known Jake for about two weeks but I had never seen him like this.
"Hey Jake. Are you ok?"
"Am I ok? You're the one who seems miserable."
I was extremely confused.
"What do you mean?"
"Well first you storm pass me in the hallway this morning, second you're like almost thirty minutes late and for lunch, and you don't know what's wrong?"
"Well I was late this morning. And I was in the bathroom." Well now it sounds like I have medical issues.
"Well I was in the bathroom um..."
"Doing what Leanna?" I could tell he was trying not to laugh. What is he five?
"No I was crying ok?" I spoke in the quietest voice I could manage.
"Why were you crying Le?" His smile faded to a concerned look.
"Really it's nothing." I knew Jake wouldn't quit until I told him.
He gave me a look as if asking again. "Someone said something about the way I looked and I didn't like it ok." I probably sound like a baby right now.
"Who said what? If it made you cry then it's not nothing." Why wouldn't he drop it.
"No really it's fine. I'm fine." I wanted him to quit. "No it's not fine. Who said what?"
I let out a sigh in frustration. "I sat down by Liam Andrews in history and he turned around to his friend and made a rude comment."
"What was the comment? Le please just tell me."
"He said, look at the rack on Tanner" happy now Jake." I said that louder than I would've liked. I was trying to hold more tears back.
"Le, it's ok. Well it's not ok but you'll be ok. You shouldn't listen to idiots like him."
"Jake you just had to know didn't you? There's some things I would like for people to know but you couldn't drop it could you?" I don't know why I was so hurt. I guess I thought Jake got me but I guess not.
"Le I'm sorry. Really I am. I'll leave it alone. Let's change the topic."
"It's ok Jake. I'm sorry I just," I let out a sigh, "never mind."
"Ok Leanna."
