When the Hand of the King, Otto Hightower offers a marriage proposal towards the Kings youngest daughter to betroth his older son Gwayne Hightower to Daena, Viserys is uncertain. But after the death of his beloved wife Aemma, he had no choice but to marry off Daena to young Gwayne.
But Daena is not eager to be sent off to marry a man twice her age and knows nothing about him, she is scared and afraid of the life her father has made for her but can't do anything but accept it. Gwayne is just as unhappy to be married off to a child but is threatened into the marriage by his father.
Their marriage was not the happiest in the beginning, but later on as Daena grows and matures, Gwayne becomes more understanding and their feelings for each other become more intimate and they eventually fall in love.
But that all falls apart when they end up on different sides of war, but nothing stops Gwayne from keeping his loyalty...but to who?

This is not your normal slowburn kind of thing and as much as I love a slowburn I love angst more and this story will have A LOT of it so :)
Most content will be age of consent type of content because Daena will be 14-15 and Gwayne around 19-20 during the time they meet as well but I am not going to make Daena and Gwayne have sex the first time they meet as that is rather uncomfortable for myself to write. I have made sure to write very clearly that Daena is an adult by the time she and Gwayne become intimate. Also things happen rather fast in the HOTD universe so don't be shocked when one thing happens then goes wrong the next,
