𝖄ears pass by faster than one can think, as Daena rests in bed beside her husband who was still fast asleep as she gently brushes his ashy red hair out of his face. Daena could spend the rest of her day just laying abed resting and doing nothing, she wished she could live like that forever. But only one could wish. Pacing footsteps interrupted Daena from her thoughts, she could tell it was Elaeys in the library trying to find himself a new book to read. Daena rose from her bed and made her what to the library, when she entered the large room Elaeys hadn't realised his mother's presence and continued to search for a book he hasn't read. Silently Daena grabbed an old book she herself used to read and brushed off all the dust that collected on it, "The book of Old Valyria," she said, Elaeys turned around in shock of his mother's presence, "A favourite of mine," Daena took a seat on the chair beside a window and looked up at her son who only stood frozen in front of the shelf carrying more books than he could carry.

Whenever Daena looked at Elaeys' scarred face, it was a heartbreaking reminder of the cruel violence that had forever altered her son's life. The deep mark across his once-smooth skin tore at her heart, a constant reminder of the pain he had endured and the innocence stolen from him. Each time she met his eyes, a mix of fierce love and unbearable sorrow washed over her, fueling her to always protect him and ensure that such a thing would never befall her family again. Moving to the seat beside his mother Elaeys set down the books and took the seat next to Daena, "I have already read that one, and I can tell why you favourite it," Elaeys was most like his mother, his passion for books and desire to rather stay inside than train with his brother was what gave it away. His brother and sister never understood his likes for such boring things but Elaeys found a comfort to it like his mother did when she was his age. He truly felt as if his mother and cousin Daeron were the only ones that truly understood him.

Elaeys had explained to his mother that he had read all the books in the library and he had nothing left to read, leaving him bored with nothing to do. Daena thought she was looking into a mirror and talking to her younger self at that moment, "Then why not train with your brother or Daeron, there are plenty other things to do other than read, my brave boy," Daena went to go reach for her sons face but Elaeys flinched away making Daena's heart ache. Ever since Aemond had scared his face, Elaeys always felt ashamed to show his face and even grew his hair out so it would cover his damaged face, "Elaeys, there is no need to be ashamed, if anything I think it makes you look rather fierce," she tried to comfort her son who just looked down at his hands picking at the dead skin around his fingernails.
