KINGS LANDING || 124 AC

     𝕴n a realm where duty and sacrifice was woven into the fabric of life, every citizen was bound by the laws of honor and obligation. From a young age, Daena, the daughter of a noble King, was taught that her life was not her own. She grew up under the stern gaze of her elders, learning that her dreams and desires were secondary to the needs of the realm. As the years passed, Daena's childhood innocence gave way to the harsh realities of her world. The burden of responsibility weighed heavily on her, shaping her into a woman who understood that personal sacrifice was the price of peace and prosperity for the people. Though her heart longed for freedom, Daena accepted her fate, knowing that in Kings Landing, in the Red Keep where she was born and raised, she needed to live and her duty was to serve. And that's what Daena did for the entirety of her life, she lived and served her duty as a Princess. She wed the man her father wanted her to marry, she birthed the children that she had always dreamt of, and she loved the man that she never knew she could love. Daena had a life, a peaceful life. It shocked her that she had finally found peace in a lifetime of war with her thoughts.

But now as Daena and Rhaenyra sat together, spending many hours catching up laughing, gossiping, and jesting together in Rhaenyra's bed chambers. Daena held her newborn nephew in her arms letting him play with her hair as she rocked him side to side in her arms. Daena realised that babies always found her hair interesting and loved to play with or try to eat it. She had also noticed Joffrey's hair was interesting, and like his brothers, they didn't have the silver hair that all Targaryen's had but brown hair that stood out like a sore thumb. Neither did he have the darkened skin of his supposed father, Daena knew Laenor had no interest in women she had found out 10 years ago at his and Rhaenyra's wedding. Targaryen genes were strong but just not strong enough to cover the evidence of a certain person's own genetics. Daena knew everything without her sister telling her, she knew and supported Rhaenyra. Knowing to be forced to marry someone, especially one that doesn't have an interest in women is hard and Daena doesn't blame her sister. But it will take a great deal to defend her children when the day comes when someone questions their legitimacy.

Rhaenyra watched as her sister cradled her son in awe and asked the question Daena had been dreading to hear, "What of Ser Gwayne? I have not seen of him since El and Alerae were born," Daena glanced up at Rhaenyra and hummed in response trying to avoid the thought of her husband. Gwayne had not been heard or seen from by Daena's family since the twins were born nine years ago, "Do not tell me he has run off with some sailor," her sister joked making Daena chuckle knowing she was referencing that joke about her own husband.
