After a while, her quiet sobbing stopped. Her shoulders relaxed. I brought my head up so I could see her face. So peaceful now in her sleep. So beautiful. I honestly wonder what could bring this angel so much grief, so much pain that she could brave herself to sleep in the arms of a stranger. I gave her one last kiss on the forehead before I went to sleep myself. "Goodnight, my Kagome", was all I could say.

"Sir. Sir. Sir..." I awoke at the urgency of the call from outside our tent. It was a man's voice. "Sir." I called back.

"Sir, sorry sa distorbo. Kanang kuan, naa dira si ma'am sir?" Came the guarded reply. (Translation: "Sir, sorry for disturbing. Is ma'am there?")

"Uhm." I looked at the damsel in distress still asleep beside me. How did I end up with this beautiful creature in my arms? That wasn't a question. "Naa kuya, kadali lang." (Translation: "Yes, one moment.")

"Kagome." I shook her gently. Her eyelids fluttered. Her eyes focused on the roof of the tent then at my face. There was a slight confusion then realization in those mysterious eyes. I placed my index finger across her lips. "Good morning." I smiled and kissed her forehead.

Then. "Ma'am, nanawag imung papa. Paulion na daw ka. Imung mama ning-mata na." (Translation: "Ma'am, your dad called. He wants you home. Your mom is now awake.")

This got her into a split-second action. She jerked my arm. She got up so suddenly she almost fell face down. I steadied her. "Kuya Fred, i-ready ang kotse asap pls." (Translation: "Kuya Fred, please ready the car asap.")

"Ready na, Ma'am. Naghuwat nalang ko nimu." (Translation: "It's ready, Ma'am. Just waiting for you.")

She yanked the zipper of the tent open almost tearing it and without a glance stepped out of our secret world. She was in a haste looking for her slippers outside cursing the blasted footwear. I stepped out and handed them to her. "Here. I placed it inside the tent last night when you were asleep."

"Thank you." She grabbed them and was surprised when I pulled them back.

"I know you're in a hurry. I have no idea how important it is for you. But before I let you go, pls... Will I ever see you again?" I pleaded with all my heart.

"Kenjo, I wish I could... I'm so sorry... but thanks... for everything." I let go of the slippers and let her slip away.
