I dial a number and it rings twice.

"Hello." Hailee says.

"Hey." I say.

"I know that deep-ass voice anywhere. How'd you get my number?" Hailee says.

"Doesn't matter." I say.

"Are we gonna do this or what?" I ask.

"I don't think we have a choice." Hailee says.

"Today work for you?" I ask.

"Yeah." Hailee says.

"Cool, I'll text you." I say.

I hang up and sigh.

"So which songs do you want me to sing?" Hailee asks.

"I literally don't listen to your music so I have no idea." I say.

"I was thinking I should do my number one single-" Hailee says.

"Don't fucking start." I say.

"Just do whatever, I don't care." I say.

"You don't care about anything except charts, do you?" Hailee asks.

"There are many other things I care about." I say.

"Like what?" Hailee asks.

"I don't have to explain anything to you." I say.

"Oh, you're full of shit." Hailee says laughing.

"I go on the regular." I say.

"Gross, ew." Hailee says.

"Oh, grow up. It's a part of life." I say.

"I bet you know all about life, grandma." She says.

"I'm 29." I say.

"Couldn't tell by all the gray hairs." She says.

"They're from stress." I say.

"Right stress. Stress over not getting a number one in over 3 years." She says.

"Maybe it comes from trying to plan a sold-out world tour." I say.

"Maybe it comes from me living rent-free in your mind." She says.

I roll my eyes and glance at the clock.

"Shit, I gotta go." I say getting up.

"We aren't done!" Hailee says.

"Just figure it out." I say leaving.

15 minutes later...

"Hey, kid. How was school?" I say.

"Good." Tucker says.

"Are you okay?" Tucker asks.

"Yeah." I say.

"You don't sound okay." Tucker says.

"You don't look okay either." Tucker says making me look at her.

"I'm just stressed from work. Not feeling 5 star anymore." I say.

"You shouldn't do something that makes you stressed." Tucker says.

"I know but it's just this one thing stressing me. It's not always like this." I say.

"Oh okay, just suffer then." Tucker says.

I laugh and she smiles.

I hear a knock on the door and I open it.
