"i've got no future..."
MARTY CATCHES HIS SKATEBOARD and runs up the stairs from the back of the school. Marty almost gasped after seeing Emma Eaves, his best friend? He was sort of taken aback. Emma hasn't met him here since she had gotten a boyfriend. Since she met Jessie Needles, Emma stopped helping the Mcfly with his continuous problem of being late to school. Of course Marty has a girlfriend of his own. Things seemed to be drifting between them too. "Hello, Em." Marty chucked in surprise and relief. He'd rather see her face than Principal Strickland.
"Don't go this way. Heard Strickland's looking for you." Emma remarked in annoyance, grabbing the boy's arm and leading him to their hiding spot inside the school.
"I can always count on you for a warm welcome." Marty sighed, following Emma's lead._____
"Alright, c'mon, I think we're safe." Emma said, peeking from the corner. The two revealed themselves, walking in the empty hallway.
"Y'know this time it wasn't my fault. The Doc set all of his clocks twenty-five minutes slow." Marty says, feeling a sense of deja vu. If they were still on speaking terms, the two would do this almost everyday. They've been out of the routine for so long it felt all weird. Not now. It's like everything reset.
"Always Doc." Emma joked. Marty laughed, staring the girl up and down.
"Always Doc." Marty repeated with a laugh. He was glad to see Emma looking the same. He always told her never to change for a guy. Especially when she started wearing makeup to impress Jessie in freshman year. Emma looked to Marty, staring him up and down. She suddenly yearned for the times where she would skip class with the McFly. Jessie taught her better. He somehow convinced the stubborn girl to stay in class. And in Marty's opinion, never hang out with anyone again except for him. Emma still felt awful considering Jennifer still let her hang with Marty.
Suddenly, Principal Strickland grips Marty's shoulder, appearing out of nowhere and catching the kids. "Doc? Am I to understand you're still hanging around with Doctor Emmett Brown, McFly?" He clicks his tongue while handing a tardy slip to Emma. "Tardy slip for you, Miss Eaves." He holds it up to the girl like she's a dog and the slip is a treat. She snatched it out of his hands, shoving it in her pocket. "One for you McFly. I believe that makes four in a row." Principal Strickland gives the two a shove, getting them to walk. "Now let me give you a nickel's worth of advice, young man. This so-called Doctor Brown is dangerous, he's a real nut case. You hang around with him you're gonna end up in big trouble." Marty grinned devilishly, looking down at the ground.
"Oh yes, sir." Marty replies sarcastically. Principal Strickland stops the boy with aggression.
"You got a real attitude problem, McFly. You're a slacker. You remind me of your father when he went here. He was a slacker too." Marty's smile slowly dissipated. He never liked when people would refer him to as his father. Because they were right. He's a wimp, an utter loser. Marty promised he would never be like that. "And Miss Eaves, I would suggest you stop hanging out with him and that Doc Brown as well. You were on good path with that Needles boy. Don't mess it up with McFly here. I thought you were done with him." Strickland said, shoving Marty further away from her.
Emma glared daggers at the principal. She then looked back to Marty who looked hurt. She could see it in his eyes like one else could. At the end of the day, Marty used to come to Emma first. No one would mess with him without getting through her. Vise versa because she used to know Marty always had her back as well. Their bond used to be indestructible. "Hey. Can we go now Mr. Clean?" Emma snapped, taking Marty's hand as he laughed to himself and lead him away. Principal Strickland stopped the two once again.
"I noticed your band is on the roster for dance auditions after school today. Why even bother Mcfly, you don't have a chance. You're too much like your old man. No McFly ever amounted to anything in the history of Hill Valley." Marty glared in the eyes of Principal Strickland who was so close in Marty's face he could smell his onion breath.
"Yeah, well history is gonna change."
