"it's like utopia! it's a nightmare!"
AN EMPTY FIELD and a scarecrow was the only thing in view. The unsettling face of the scarecrow sent the pair screaming which then sent them crashing into a small barn. Emma's head was sent spinning while trying to figure out her surroundings. All she could see was Marty. All Marty could see was Emma. Everything else felt like a big blur of dark.
The front barn door creeped open revealing a family. "Pa, what is it? What is it, Pa?"
"Looks like an airplane, without wings." the older man said completely astonished.
"That ain't no airplane, look." The young son trembled before holding up his comic book which revealed Space Zombies from Pluto. The car door slowly opened, cold air flowing out. Emma breathed heavily into her face cover. Before she could talk, she was cut off by the screams of the family.
"Listen, listen!" Emma pleaded before falling into a stack of hay. Marty hopped out of the car, trying to help Emma get back on her feet. Marty threw off her face cover, revealing her gorgeous face. While helping her up, the cows mooed loudly behind them.
"Um, hello?" Marty called out, stepping out of the barn. This time he decided he'd take the lead. "uh, excuse me? Sorry about your barn." Marty was stopped by the sound of two gunshots that sent him stumbling down back into the barn again. Emma yelped, revealing herself instead of Marty.
"It's already mutating into human forms! Shoot it!" The little boy yelled while his father held up his gun. Emma slammed the doors to the car, shoving Marty inside as he tripped over her foot.
"Take that you mutated son-of-a-bitch!" The man yelled with gun in hand. The two stumbled over each other before tripping into the car. The duo's response to the shooting man was busting out of the barn with DeLorean, sending the whole family into a frenzy. Emma had sort of forgotten she couldn't drive. Her lack of vision and sheer panic caused the DeLorean to run over a pine tree. The man hollered and screamed about his pine. It didn't really matter to the two, times were too dire to care._____
The bright sun rose over the California mountains, yet everything felt the same. Emma gripped the wheel tightly, keeping her eyes fixated on the road. Marty panicked in the passenger's seat, holding his head while wiping the sweat off of his forehead he struggled as he faded in and out of sleep. "Alright, alright, okay McFly, get a grip on yourself. It's all a dream..." he looked to his left to see Emma on wheel. This was no dream. "Just a very intense dream." Marty said to himself with a slight whimper. Marty continued looking to Emma and all of her glory driving a time-traveling machine in a radiation suit. That confused, fearful look in her eyes was real. This was still not a dream. Might as well have been a nightmare.
Emma slammed on the brakes and pulled over. "Woah, Em! What's the—" Before Marty could finish, the girl stepped out of the car and walked toward where Marty is supposed to live; Lyon Estates was gone. Just field for miles. Marty couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the billboard. "I can't believe it." Marty says gazing at the marketing billboard which said: Live in the home of tomorrow, today! "I can't fuckin' believe it!" Marty yelled.
In an attempt to keep Marty from panicking even more, she tried directing his attention to something else. "Help me take off this stupid suit." Emma said while struggling to get herself out of her radiation suit. Marty sighed in annoyance, storming towards Emma to help her take off the suit. While doing so, the two noticed coming from the distance was an old man driving in his car; Marty took his chance. "Woah, hey, listen, you gotta help us." Marty pleaded, holding the car's open window.
"Don't stop, Wilbert, drive!" The hysterical woman cried.
"Cant be..." Marty muttered, running back to the car. Emma abandoned the radiation suit, following Marty to the car and headed to the drivers seat. The two grabbed the car door handle at the same time. Marty looked to Emma who knew exactly what he was going to say.
"Em—"
"Yeah. Yup. Heard ya." She mumbled while heading to the passengers seat. The Eaves watches worriedly while Marty struggles to start the car. She lets out a rough sigh, closing her eyes for a minute while the McFly slams his hand on the dashboard. Emma knew it wouldn't work. The engine wouldn't start. She angrily shoots herself out of the car. She looks to Marty who gazes in confusion.
"Well come on, get out!" Emma yelled. Marty stumbles out, ready to get to work. "Help me get this behind this billboard here." The two suck in a breath before pushing the heavy car behind the happy looking billboard. It made it look like where they were was some kind of utopia. It felt more like a nightmare.
There the sign read HILL VALLEY 2 MILES. Emma read it aloud. "Two miles." She sighed, walking in front of Marty, facing him while dragging her hands down to his holding the boy's sweaty hands. She smiled, trying to lighten up the mood. It worked when the girl noticed Marty slightly cracking a smile. He sighed, finally owning up to his happy feeling. He spun Emma around to wrap his arm around her.
"Yeah." Marty replied. He looked to his hand which hung off of Emma's shoulder being held. "Two miles."
