"only a matter of time..."
TEENAGER MARTY MCFLY barged into the home of his good friend, Emmett Brown; who just so happened not to be there. "Hey, Doc?" Marty says before placing the key back underneath the mat. "Hello! Anybody home?" Marty walks in, dragging his skateboard in with him. "Einstein, come here, boy." Marty whistles to the shaggy dog who isn't there either. "What's going on? Aw, Jesus." The boy says to himself, placing his hands in his pockets. "Where the hell is he?"
Marty walks towards the biggest speaker known to man aka the "amplifier" and flips all the switches on it. Specifically flipping all of them to it's highest volume level. He connects his little yellow guitar to the amplifier before adjusting his sunglasses which he wore inside. Marty takes a deep breath in, flings his arm holding his guitar pick up in the air, and gives the small yellow guitar a strum. Due to everything being at its highest power and also it being the biggest speaker known to man, Marty is thrown back into all of Doc's things and knickknacks. Thankfully he landed on the couch but all the papers and such were flown all over the place. Marty groans, slowly leaning up and taking his glasses off. "Whoa..." Marty trails off seeing the speaker now destroyed. "rock n' roll."
Usually this activity would be more fun with his best friend, Emma Eaves. They would always hang out. Practically every minute of the day. Nowadays, Marty would be lucky to see her in the halls. He didn't blame the girl; ever since he started dating Jennifer Parker, he fully disappeared from Emma. He completely blamed himself for the way things turned out. He felt he got even harder karma by getting replaced by biggest asshole on the planet, Jessie Needles. Everything lately seem to be just one big load of karma.
Now that Marty had fully recovered, the bell that Doc had made to connect to the phone started ringing. "Yo." Marty answered.
"Marty, is that you?" Doc asked in an excited tone.
"Hey, hey, Doc, where are you?"
"Listen, can you meet me at Twin Pines Mall tonight at 1:15? I've made a major breakthrough, I'll need your assistance." Marty paused at Doc's question; also to stare at all the damage he caused.
"Wait a minute, wait a minute. 1:15 in the morning?"
"Yeah." Marty paused again, thinking. Doc didn't know. Doc didn't know about Emma; at least that's what the two thought.
"Wait a minute, wait a minute, Doc. Emma gonna be there?" Doc stopped. He didn't want to lie to Marty, but it was the only way.
"Um. No."
"Doc what's going on? Where have you been all week?" Marty sighs, asking loudly.
"I've been working." Doc sighs.
"Where's Einstein? Is he with you?"
"Yeah, he's right here."
"You know, Doc, you left your equipment on all week." Marty reminded, stepping over pieces of residue from the amplifier.
"My equipment, that reminds me, Marty, you better not hook up to the amplifier. There's a slight possibility for overload." Marty cringed at Doc's comment, looking around again.
"Yeah, I'll keep that in mind."
"Good, I'll see you tonight. Don't forget, now, 1:15 a.m. Twin Pines Mall."
"Right." Marty says. He jumps to the sound of what seems like a million clocks going off at once.
"Are those my clocks I hear?" Doc asks excitedly like a little kid in a candy shop.
"Yeah, it's 8:00" Marty shouts over them.
"They're late. My experiment worked. They're all exactly twenty-five minutes slow." Marty paused to Doc's comment, his face dropping.
"Wait a minute. Wait a minute, Doc. Are you telling me that it's 8:25?"
"Precisely." Doc says, smiling at the other end of the line. Marty on the other hand wasn't so cheery.
"Damn!" Marty shouts. "I'm late for school!" He says, slamming the phone down and rushing out the door with his skateboard. He placed his headphones atop his fluffy chestnut-colored hair and skated straight into the street. Luckily, there was a truck passing by which he held onto. This activity was usually more fun with his friend Emma, but she was at school and presumably with her boyfriend. Either way, he was late for school._____
Teenager Emma Eaves was awoken to the sound of her phone ringing. There was only one person she knew who could possibly be calling at seven thirty in the morning. "Hello?" Emma rasped while trying to still open her eyes.
"Hey, baby." Emma's boyfriend, Jessie Needles said over the phone. "Do you know what time it is?" He asked. Emma quickly tried to think before Jessie starting complaining.
"Friday?"
"Which means?"
"What is this a test?" Emma joked. Jessie took it seriously.
"Just get over here, Em, god." The phone line rung. Things weren't working well anymore in she and Jessie's dreamland anymore, the girl had no idea how to fix it.
Emma combed through her old, carefully crafted wooden drawers to find something nice to wear. She slips on her jeans while brushing through her big, curled hair. She then debated putting on makeup while putting on her brown flannel and red shirt. Once Emma had stopped putting in so much effort with her appearance like makeup, people seemed to be driven away from her. People like Jessie Needles and his friends. Only her best friend, Marty would understand. Although he's occupied with himself and his girlfriend, Jennifer, Marty had always made time for Emma. The girl couldn't say the same and still gave Marty a hard time. Ever since she started dating Jessie Needles, it's like she disappeared and expected Marty to come find her. Emma was completely guilty of it. That's what lead to the end of the Eaves-McFly friendship for what seemed like forever. Nothing has felt the same anymore since.
The phone rung again. Emma reluctantly answered the phone. "Hello." She groaned.
"Emma!" An all familiar voice yelled over the phone. The girl smiled, gripping the phone tighter.
"Oh, hey, Doc." She chuckled. "Where have you been?"
"Just..." Doc paused. "...working." Emma raised her eyebrows. This tone of voice was familiar. It always lead to trouble.
"What's going on, Doc?" Emma inquired.
"Listen, can you meet me at Twin Pines Mall tonight at 1:15? I've made a major breakthrough and I'll need your assistance." Emma paused at Doc's question.
"Like 1:15 in the...morning?"
"Yeah." She sighed, rubbing her head. "Wait, is Martin gonna be there?" Doc stopped, feeling major deja vu.
"Um, no."
"Alright, Doc. I'll be there."
"Good, I'll see you tonight. Don't forget, 1:15 a.m. Twin Pines Mall."
Jessie Needles opened the door to reveal his girlfriend who smiled at his door. He didn't seem to be in the best mood today. "You're late." Emma laughed uncomfortably. She hesitantly took Jessie's wrist to check the time.
"By what? Five minutes?" Jessie sighed at his girlfriend, shoving her hands away from him. Her smile dissolved.
"Just get in the car." Emma followed his order, hopping into his brother, Douglas's car.
"Hey, doll." Douglas flirted. The girl's face scrunched up, completely not interested.
"Lay off, Douglas." Jessie groaned.
"Make me." Emma curled up in the back seat. She's always hated driving with Douglas.
