Chapter 5

I'm driving down the road, it's 10 in the morning and I've already been having the most ridiculous morning. I got woken up by Luke's mother who was screaming at me to leave her house and calling me a tramp and skank and just about every other name in the book, so I gathered my things and left as quickly as I could, the only glimpse of myself I've gotten today is just looking in my rear view and I am looking rough. I have blood shot eyes and eyeliner smeared on my face. My phone is completely dead and I just do not know what's waiting for me at home but I'm anxious just thinking about it. My dad is going to get one look at me and just know I didn't stay at Carly's house last night, but I'm an adult now, and where I end up is really none of his business.

As I'm pulling up to my fathers property I see Gemma's jeep parked out front and I'm thinking great now she wants to talk to me.
As I'm parking my car and preparing to walk inside the house I just feel the biggest rush of
Anxiety hit me and I just start breathing really heavy..... deep breath deep breath

As I open the front door the smell of biscuits and gravy hits my nostrils and in that moment I realized just how hungry I was,
I see my dad and Gemma just sitting at the kitchen island and as I walk in the looks on their faces just change so drastically
I stop in my tracks and just look at them, do I run upstairs or do I just face the music
"CHARMAINE, I'm going to give you a second to actually tell me the truth of where you were last night" my dad says to me
"You look like shit girl" Gemma then says
"Nice to see you too cousin, but uh I already told you I went to that party at my work last night" I said back
"Yeah; but where did you sleep?" He said all stern.
"I think I've already told you" i said back with a bit of an attitude
"Well I know it wasn't at Carly's, so where did you go" he said
"Was it Theo's?" Gemma smirks
"Who is Theo?" My dad exclaims
"Theo is Gemma's crush, so no I wasn't at Theo's but it's not important where I was all that matters is I'm here now and I'm ready to go take a shower" I say and then I turn to start walking up the stairs and I can hear my dad say to Gemma
"She just has no respect for me"
And I could hear the hurt in his voice

After my shower I'm just entering my bedroom and I seen Gemma just laying on my bed
"Hey" I say to her
"So you'll tell me the truth right?" She says and smiles
"Uh yeah of course Gem, I've never lied to you"
"You really didn't go home with Theo?! I saw your snap story and his and I know you guys were at the same party" she says with a sigh
"Yeah; we were at the same party but no we didn't go home together, god if you only knew who i really ended up with" I say and let out a nervous laugh.
I drop my towel to the ground and go to my drawer and pull out a pair of soffee shorts and put on a big vintage Rolling Stones t shirt, I see my reflection in the mirror and I look much better after washing away the craziness that was last night
"Who did you end up with?! Anyone I know?" She says all excited
"Oh god, if I tell you, you can't say shit to my dad"
"I promise" Gemma says then extends out her pinky, I meet her half way and extend mine out to her and they interlock
"His name is Luke, he is a line cook I work with but god the sex was absolute shit"
"YOU HAD SEX WITH HIM" Gemma exclaims
"SHHH be quiet !! I can't have dad hearing" I say and then I get on the bed next to Gemma. She looked beautiful today, her long hair was up in a claw clip and her eyes were sparkling. She had on a cute t shirt and shorts and I saw her swimsuit strings hanging out of her collar.
"Is it Luke Billings; he is cute...but uh" Gemma says all nervous.
"Yes he is a total fucking loser, but a hot Fucking loser who kept calling me CHARLIE" I said and giggled
"I can't believe he was your first" she said
"Oh Gem; he wasn't my first" I say then smirk
"HE WASNT"
"No, let's just say.....I've had a few partners" I say then blush
"Damn char, when did you become such a little hoe" Gemma said then laughed
"I don't know, probably whenever my boobs decided to come in, so wait are you still a virgin?"
"Um...yeah, and I've been wanting to lose it and Fisher and I talked about potentially swapping virginities and then we both decided it would be way to weird so yeah, now I'm hoping I can lose it by the end of this summer, I can't be a virgin in college"
"You are a gorgeous girl Gemma, you will find someone I'm sure"
"I've missed you char"
My cousin then grabbed me and pulled me into an embrace, it felt so good to be back in her arms.
"So you're not mad at me?" I say back
"No, as long as you stay away from Theo then we are good, i know my chances with him are a little rocky but I'm sure with your help he will someday give me a chance."
"You really think I can help?! I don't think I did such a good job last time I tried"
"Yeah well; we just have to make a plan and stick to it, I see you and Carly are getting closer and I know her and Theo are best buds so next time you guys all hang out you should invite me!"
"Yeah, I can do that, but what about your friends, do they all still not like me?" I say kind of nervous
"Fisher could never dislike you, and the girls will come around, maybe not phoebe but she really isn't the most favorite of the group anyways" Gemma says then laughs
"Yeah I just gave her unsolicited health advice she will get over it" I say then laugh harder
"So your dad said we could take his credit card to Joplin and get you a few new pieces of clothes if you wanna go?" She said back
"He did? That's nice of him" I say
"Yeah your dad is actually really cool when you give him a chance, but I told him about how you only have one swimsuit and I'm sorry but you can't have a grove lake summer and show up in the same swimsuit every day, that's kind of gross"
