FAIT ACCOMPLI

"I'm so sorry, sweetheart. What happened?" Asks Riley, still utterly stupefied by Ellana's revelation. "Was it peaceful?"

"She died in her sleep." Sobs Ellana, holding Riley's suit tightly, before digging her head into his chest. She uncontrollably cries. Riley's heart breaks, and he wraps his arms tightly around her. A tear falls from his eye. He lowers his head onto hers.

"I'm so, so sorry my love. But why weren't you crying when I arrived?" He asks.

With her head still digging tightly into his chest, her lips straighten out and her eyes widen. The tears fall at a slower rate, but she continues to not let go of him. Riley picks up the scent that something funny is going on, but suddenly hatches a plan and decides to carry on. "That was a silly question - it would have been the adrenaline."

Ellana looks up at him, and gives a funny stare, whilst still crying. "Do you not believe me, Riley?" She asks. "I'm grieving." She lets go of him. "Can you give me a minute please? I want to be alone." She says.

"Are you sure, love? I want to be here for you." Replies Riley instantly. But Ellana has none of it, and points to the door with her right hand, while wiping away more tears from her face with her left hand.

Riley exits Resus, and as he goes to walk forward he is nearly run over by a trolley which enters Resus. He swiftly turns to his side, and allows the trolley to go past. The Resus doors swing back and forth. Riley walks forward and into reception. Suddenly, his eyes widen and his mouth drops.
