Frank dragged themself out of bed, a splitting headache marking their terrible sleep the night before.

Making it to their 'platonic date' with Julie and Sally wasn't going to be pleasurable. Usually with Julie their time was filled with off-the-wall games, and their time with Sally was consumed by performances and plays. Neither of these things sounded good to Frank today.

They rubbed their temples, knocking into a door in the process, and in turn ending up in a heap on the floor. Today was not their day.

Then, the doorbell rang. Frank tried to tame the mess their hair had turned into, combing it with their fingers as they unlatched the door.

Standing on Frank's porch was Eddie Dear, with an extravagant bouquet of flowers.

"You have the wrong house, Mr. Dear." Frank said, barely taking a moment to look at the bouquet. It simply wasn't natural for anything of that sort to come to their doorstep. It had to be wrong.

"Your name is on the tag. Mr. Frankly, right?"

Frank inwardly cringed at the use of Mr., but nodded in agreement. They took the crinkly cellophane-wrapped bouquet from the mailman and began to shut the door.

"Wait!" Eddie said, catching the door with his hand. Frank opened the door again to give Eddie a skeptical look.

Eddie digs around in his bag, pulling out a brightly colored envelope with a messy paw print on it.

"There's a little party going on at Barnaby's tonight, if you're interested."

Frank sighs. "Barnaby's parties are never 'little'. If you couldn't already tell, I loathe being in crowds."

"I'm not sure what 'loaf' means, but if it makes you feel any better I'm goin' too! Somebody's got to keep me company."

Frank raises an eyebrow. (Half of his unibrow? idk -L) Before they argue, Julie pops into their head, waving her finger and telling them to be nice. And to their dismay.. sociable.

"Fine. I'll be there."

Eddie steps off the porch and waves, clumsily tripping over the fence-gate on the way out.

"Whatever have I gotten myself into?" They shake their head.
