Frank had already walked past their house once, and whether it was on purpose Eddie wasn't sure. They were walking backwards in front of Eddie, making gestures with their hands as they rambled on about butterflies and caterpillars. They used so many big words Eddie hardly understood, but that was alright because he enjoyed hearing them talk. Some of the facts he'd remember and surprise Frank with later.

Frank's wide smile had returned, and Eddie was actually relieved they didn't head to his house. Frank was a very clean person, and Eddie would have to prepare plenty before they came. Sometimes Eddie would worry that Frank would trip over rocks or cracks in the path, but they never actually fell. Eddie almost fell himself, concerned more about where Frank was stepping.

Eddie thought Frank was a lovely friend. He remembered Julie being worried that Frank isolated themself too much. Now looking at them, he wasn't worried at all. Eddie wondered if nobody ever asked about Frank's interests. He was happy to listen, after all being a mailman doesn't leave him with many interesting conversations.

Too soon, they're at Frank's doorstep again. They chuckle and rub the back of their neck nervously.

"I've talked quite a bit, haven't I?"

Eddie smiles and nods. "I think this is 'bout our sixth round of the neighborhood. I'd do a dozen more to hear all you've got to tell."

Frank smiles sheepishly. "Considering we've just met, you're awful interested in hearing about my butterflies. It's an acquired taste for most."

Eddie leans back against the post on Frank's porch. "It's the least I could do, you've let a stupid mailman follow you around for--" He looks down at his wrist, "-- two hours now?"

Frank laughs. "Don't give yourself too much credit, Eddie."

Frank squints down at Eddie's watch, not having one of their own. "Oh my. I've stayed out much longer than I meant to."

Eddie suppresses a yawn, proving Frank's point. "I'll see you tomorrow, Frank. I'm sure I'll find an excuse to see you anyway." He grins. "Sleep well, alright?"

Frank nods. "You first."

Eddie laughs in return. "I'll do my best."

Eddie holds the door open for Frank as they step inside, gently closing it after them and heading back to crash in his own bed.
