Elliot Quintell is our "chooser" for the Reaping. They'd have to choose two tributes from our district. One female, one male. Cato and I've had our names in the glass ball since we were 11. Cato looked around, and once he saw me, he gave me a smirk. I rolled my eyes, hoping he saw. Elliot finally stepped up on the platform. His bizarre outfits admired his piercing gray eyes. His hair was a dark shade of chocolate, and his skin was a milky white. I found his smile attractive, yet sometimes annoying.
Elliot began to speak into the camouflaged microphone attached to him. He cleared his throat before he started. "Ahem, welcome, ladies and gentle men! To the 75th annual Hunger Games!" The crowd applauded, all but for me. "As usual, I will be choosing two names from these glass balls to enter the Games. Remember, one girl, and one boy." Elliot put his leather gloves on. "First, the girls." He delicately placed his hands into one of the glass balls. He mixed the names around and around, until he finally swooped one up. We all watched as he slowly opened the small envelope, revealing a name. "And for our girl, we have Clove Sevina! Please step up." Everybody clapped, and then looked around for me. I sighed and walked my way to the stage. "Oh! What a gorgeous tribute we have here! Such a pretty, dainty face. She'd do well in the Arena." Elliot pat my back. "Next up, the boys." Elliot once again gracefully place his glove hand into the other glass ball. He did the same routine, mixing up the names. He picked one up. "Hm, Lupo Astelle? Please come on up." As Lupo emerged from the crowd, Cato screamed "I VOLUNTEER!". That bastard. Lupo was surprised. I was too. "Oh! A volunteer. Please come on up, young gentleman. Lupo, you may go back to your place." Lupo vanished into the crowd, and Cato came onto the stage. "What's your name, handsome?" Elliot smiled kindly. "Cato Hadley." "Cato! Such a perfect name for a man like you. Strong jawline, piercing eyes, and a muscular body! I suppose we shall make our way now. Go on, follow the Peacekeepers to your special transportation vehicle." Elliot kindly waved us off. He continued a speech as we followed the men in white armor. The Capitol designed those suits, just for the Peacekeepers. I hated them just as much as I hated Cato.
A long, luxurious bus was parked on the side of the street. It shined in the harsh sunlight, Cato and I blocking our eyes with our hands in response. I looked through the dim windows of the vehicle. I saw a king sized bed, and lots of decorations in the bed room. The bus also had a dining room, all set for the tributes. The dining table was wooden, and very long. Made for about twelve people to sit at. There was food set on the china plates, with silverware placed neatly around the plate. The Peacekeepers guided us into the bus, and soon after that, Elliot came with us. Inside the bus, there was perfect lighting, calm music playing, and the smell of cinnamon and bread roaming about. I took a deep breath, taking in as much air as I could. "Magnificent, is it not?" Elliot asked, hoping for a response. "Yeah, you could say that." I replied, still distracted by the inside of this luxury. Cato smirked and put his arm around the back of my neck. His body was warm, and the air was cold, making me sleepy. "I love you, Clover." Cato leaned his face close to mine. I felt his breath on me, and he felt my breath on him. His piercing blue eyes stared directly into my dark brown eyes. We looked at each other's faces for a while. The blonde then laughed and let me go. Elliot was smiling, seeing us together. "Elliot, I'd like to see the whole area. Thank you." I said in a harsh and forced tone. Elliot nodded, and took my hand. I shook his hand off, his eyes full of sadness now. He cued for Cato to follow as well. We walked into the dining area first. "This, as you can see, is the dining room. We'll be eating here for the next few days." A fresh new aroma of homemade cookies and milk entered my nose. The smell made me want to just lie down and take it all in. But I couldn't take it all in. It was too much to bare. Cato and I in a luxury vehicle, going to the hotel we'll be staying at, then the Training Area, and finally, the Arena. Way too much to handle. "Alright, next, the bedroom. I'm sorry we only have one bedroom." Elliot's eyes are now full of sorry. "That's fine with me, as long as I get to have Clover sleeping next to me." Cato winked at Elliot. Thy shared a small smile. I sighed. This was going to be a tough next few days. Elliot turned the doorknob, and opened the door to the room. Another aroma, different this time, filled the air. It was the smell of fresh roses. The bed was a double bed, king sized. The bed sheets seemed to be custom made. The pillows were set neatly and nicely on the mattress, and the sheets were not even wrinkled a bit. There were six drawers lined with gold and silver made just for the tributes spending their time here. A glass vase held many live roses on the bedside drawers. I told myself that this was going to be great. "Well, I need to prepare more food for us, please excuse me." Elliot quickly walked out the room, shutting the door quietly behind him. Cato looked at me, and I crossed my arms. I turned away from him, trying not to make contact. "Hey, Princess. You mad at me?" Cato grabbed my shoulders firmly and turned me around. He lifted my chin up so we stared into each other's eyes. "Don't be. We're about to have some fun." Cato smirked and pushed me onto the bed, ruining the sheets and pillows. I change my mind. This was NOT going to be great.
Cato pinned me down on the bed. He grabbed my hands tightly with his huge, strong hands. He pushed my hands to the sides of my face, on the pillows. I tried to shake his hands off so I could slap him right across his face. He pinned me down tighter. He smiled and leaned his face towards me, until our lips were just inches apart. I felt his warm breath against my face. Cato's cold blue eyes enlightened with joy. His spiky blonde hair complimented his strong jawline and cheekbones. Cato is usually fierce and brutal, but when he's around me, he's calm and caring. He let go of my hands, but made sure I couldn't get up. The blonde kissed me deeply and passionately, his hands running through my hair. I tried my hardest to push him off of me, but he was pinning me down as if I were the only girl in the world. I felt his tongue swirl around in my mouth. Cato then abruptly stopped, and he bit my bottom lip. He pulled on my lip, and then let go. He looked directly into my eyes. "I love you." He said sternly.
